Yes, in case you're wondering, I'm obsessed with this game. I went around on google and edited a couple of images of some of the places in the game. If you don't get it, well, that's what I'm here for. I'll be adding and explanation to each image.
Basically, Project Purity's job is to purify all the irradiated water within Washington, DC. I used Revelation 21:6 as a quote for it because for over 200 years since the bomb fell, all the water that people come along (except the purified water in bottles) was brimmed with radiation. The scientists working on the project are trying to give life back to the wasteland, therefore, the quote. The location, by the way, is the Jefferson Memorial.
This is the Oasis, the only place in the Capital Wasteland that has trees and bushes with leaves. If someone goes for the right quest, they can convince the main life giver to spread his roots and give green back to the Wasteland. The people who live there are trying to bring light and sweetness back to the world...
This is the Underworld, the home to outcasts ghouls. Back when the bomb fell, not everyone that didn't have a vault home died. Some people were hit with the initial blast of radiation and their skin became zombie like. Some of them became feral and attack anyone they can. These are ghouls that are on the edge of feral, because they want to keep peace but have been treated badly by fair-skinned people. So they made a home of their own, and trust no human.
Alistair Tenpenny, the owner of this tower, doesn't like ghouls. Says it all.
Ah, Megaton. This is the home to an active bomb! You can chose between two paths: The good side and not blow up the bomb, or the bad side and have a massive fireworks show. I used that quote because they're all living a peaceful life, almost a play, in that little town. They act as if it isn't there, but they never know with who you become if their lives are slowly ticking away..
War. War never changes. These are the introductory words for Fallout 3. The bomb fell as a result of the Cold War, in a different timeline...
