The sun was high and the air was dry, even over the the waters of the Potomac river. A ragged settler of this wasteland that used to be a bustling city stood high above the river on an abandoned aircraft carrier, enjoying their smoke break. Their hair was nappy, their shirt was stained, and their dirty overalls were nicked from a corpse.
Dragging in the cigarette in a futile attempt at enjoying themselves, the survivor of the wastes turned to see the large metal door that led to the innards of the ship open up. Out of it came another settler, this one war-torn and ravaged more thoroughly by the wastes, but as they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and he stood atop the ship, confident and strong.
"The ******** you doing out here?" the smoker said, turning away from the newcomer.
"I've come to have a talk with you," he said, walking up next to him. He was wearing armor, military gear accosted and repainted as the person in it didn't serve what was left of the US Military.
"Well spit it out will ya? I'm busy," the smoker said, annoyed by the others presence.
"I've been hearing things about you, that you used to be a slaver..."
"A man's gotta make some caps somehow don't he? I don't deal with them any more so get lost."
"...that you still are a slaver." The smoker puffed out a ball of smog and turned to the stranger.
"I don't have to put up with this s**t, so leave me alone." The stranger lifted his hands up, as though to say that he had intruded on the others business and would now back off.
He turned away, back towards the door and gripped the handle.
The smoker returned to his break, slightly annoyed at the disturbance, yet relieved now that it's gone. He could enjoy his...
BANG!
His limp, lifeless corpse hit the steel floor with a thud as the stranger lowered his shotgun.
"I ********' HATE, slavers." A spent round rolled off the edge of the ship and into the radioactive water below. Sinking and corroding slightly as it hit the muddy river bottom.
