so here i am again. after recovering of a broken finger i can finally type again. ive got a lot to talk about so lets get started.

first of a game called borderlands. and yes SPOILERS kinda.
lets review this thing.

now first and foremost i havent played the entire game. heck this entire review is based on me playing the game with chaos at his house. so if i mis some stuff that happens later in the game then thats too bad.

GRAPHICS:
well immediatly a big one. the graphics on this game are unlike most games. its nog really polished and great looking but it does look different. ive read that this game uses a thing called cell shading. (or something like that) and to the game's credit it works... kinda. you see its really weird looking in a sense. everything has a black line around it and the textures are more or less slapped on the ground. and thats probably my biggest problem. it feels kind of rushed. if you load up the game, there will be a second or two of loading textures. in that time you can litterally see where the textures need to go. in my opinion you could have used something better. it feels kind of lacking. it could have been more if the graphics where different.
now the game uses the unreal engine. the weird thing about this is that i dont have a problem with the graphics of unreal 3. which uses the same engine. it works for some games but in this case the graphics dont impress. and the fact that the entire planet is a huge sandy dune area doesnt help it either.

GAMEPLAY:
the controls in this game are pretty much the same as in every other shooter. and it works out fine here. ive got no complaints about the buttons. but there are some other aspects that could have been better. car driving is one of those things. i really cant drive one of these things unless in a perfect straight line. the controls on that are really wierd because you use both sticks. another thing is the weapon ammo. as you go through the game you will get more and more weapons that require different ammo. now this is fine. whats not fine is the way ammo is picked up. when you open a chest for example is displays various ammo. now to pick it up you dont walk over it or automaticly pick it up. you first have to aim at the ammo and then press square to pick it up. to make this go faster you can also hold down the button to pick up all adjacent ammo. this works fine when its a chest but if there are multiple enemy's scattered across the field you have to go to each of there locations and look at the ammo they dropped. usually its all over the place and you have to pick each one up individually. they should have made it automatic. just walk over it and pick it up. and dont even get me started on multiplayer.

STORY:
well the story in this game is... non existent. yes there is some stuff about a vault containing riches and what not but thats what you have as a story troughout the game. (im sure thats a spelling error there).
the whole game youre just searching for treasure. thats it. and in my opinion thats not enough. give me a story that evolves. something thats interesting and progressive. this is more like "hey there's treasure there lets go get it". and thats all you get. to me this is epic fail.

MULTIPLAYER:
well as said at the start of this review ive only played it in two player split screen. and for all its downsides i mentioned, it does get better in two player. sure you still dont have a story and such but its better to have someone help you through the more challenging sections of the game. we were happilly shooting everything we came across and leveled up due to that fact. just shooting stuff with a friend is sometimes all i need to have fun. now picking up ammo on the other hand now really begins to bug me. if you have an smg and youre friend doesnt then make some dang good agreements on who gets the smg ammo. its worthless to him and gold to you. so at every step of the way you have to be carefull not to pick up his ammo and vice versa. it becomes a chore picking up ammo and seeing if you need it or not. and god help you if both of you need the same type of ammo.

FINAL VERDICT:
okay graphics, decent gameplay and no story. it sounds bad but it does have some redeeming factors. two player is surprisingly fun and once you adjust to some of the bad aspects of the game you can enjoy it. i wouldnt buy it for solo gameplay. but if you have a friend over its more fun that way. so borderlands on ps3 gets:

6/10

a decent game but no jewel. wait for it to drop in price and go check it out.

----------------------------------------------------------------

now for some ranting of my own. and more or less gaia.
its been a long time since i was on gaia. and there is a reason for that.
gaia = sucking out money

okay maybe not that litteral but still. in the old days (damn kids, get of my lawn) gaia was a nice place to be. it was nothing special but just fun. you didnt get much gold each day but you could make a nice avatar out of it. the evolving items where fun and for those who could afford it a very nice touch. these days gaia is all about getting more money. evolving items are still nice but are slowly degrading in looks. gaia is pumping out rapid ei's by the motherload and every new item requires gaia cash.
this is the main reason why ive left gaia a bit and the reason why im probably not coming back anymore. i wont delete my account or anything. im just not checking gaia anymore and bothering with gaia cash.
in the past i spent a whole lot of real money on gaia cash. and for that time i enjoyed it. nowadays its just getting too costly to keep up with all of the stuff that is pretty cool but also too expensive. and yes i know i dont have to spend real money to get it when i can buy it on the marketplace. but i dont see a fast way of raising milllions of gold in a couple of days.
it was fun while it lasted. now gaia is more like a money grabber.

i will check gaia once in a while. in like three or four months but dont expect to see me online again in the coming future.

gwee: so youre leaving us behind then?

spirit: i always knew you where like that.

nightmare: "shocked"

dont worry guys. youre all coming with me on my next adventure.

gwee: and whats that dragon?

only the future knows gwee, only the future knows.
