[[ This is an RP post for the DMC: No Rest for Anyone thread, as it's far too big to post there. It contains points for upcoming plots for the actual storyline, involving Lucian's planned confession to Tess, and the upcoming swarm of New Demons. ]]
Barton’s park was the favourite spot for children to play at, with its various playground equipment, and a large swimming lake, it was the place for families to spend a nice sunny day.
‘Lucille Artemis’ smiled from her car, watching as her daughter played in the sandlot, waving back proudly. She didn’t notice Lucian walking up from behind until he reached the back of her car.
“You know, it’s been a long time since we crossed paths, Lucian. Do I get a hug after all this time?” she asked, not even bothering to turn around. Lucian chuckled, walking over and hugging her from behind, giving a friendly kiss on her cheek.
“And after all this time, I didn’t even realise you had a family. The great Witch Robin, sorceress and mother.” He said, chuckling as he leaned against the bonnet of her car. Their paths had crossed many a time, in more ways than one, but this would possibly be their last.
“So, what brings the King D out of his slumber and up to the fairground? Last I heard, you were seen taking on a certain devil hunter in the Underzone.” Robin said, waving to her daughter once again.
Lucian simply chuckled, “Well, word does get around fast up here, doesn’t it?” he said, looking over at Robin’s daughter, “She looks just like you.”
Robin nodded, turning to give Lucian her infamous ‘Gonna get to the point?’ looks, one he had been accustomed to from years of experience.
“Seems there are some rampant demons around these days. Ones that don’t follow my orders and it’s becoming a problem. I’ve already lost some good friends,” he said, handing an old faded photo to Robin, one that had both him and her, along with another two people in it.
“Oh Jesus…they’re both..?” she stammered, the tears falling down her cheeks slowly, as she wiped them away with a tissue quickly. Lucian simply nodded, extracting the small jar from his pocket.
“These suckers have souls. No demon is ever meant to have a soul, unless it’s a person who hasn’t passed on. But even then, they shouldn’t be this corroded.” He continued, sighing a bit. The detailed image of the apartment room still lingered in his mind.
Robin handed the photo back, “I don’t know what it is you’re looking for, but I can tell you that it’s going to cause a lot of problems. I want to help, really, but...” she started, her gaze going to her daughter yet again, “I can’t put Cecilia at risk, and you know why.”
Lucian simply nodded, pocketing the photo and the jar, “There is one thing you can do for me, involving a girl.” He asked, blushing a bit at this request.
“The Prince has found someone? Oh well, that’s very good for you Fayt...”
Lucian shook his head quickly, “Don’t call me that. You know I don’t go by that name anymore.” He said, his words sharp to end her teasing.
Robin looked down a bit, “I know, and it’s a shame... you were cuter with that name.” she whispered, kissing his cheek. “So, you want me to use a hex to make her like you? Potion? Spell, scripture, anything you want.”
Lucian shook his head again, “No…I want you to keep an eye on her for me. I haven’t told her my feelings yet, as she’s in love with someone else.” He started, looking directly at Robin, his eyes matching the feeling in his words, “I need to protect her when the time is right, and for that I need you to give me your ‘sight’.”
Robin backed up a bit, bringing a hand to her chest slightly, “Luci, you know that’s a bad idea…I need it for my own protection.” She said, feeling a bit hurt by his words.
“You’ll still have it... I will only need it for one time, and after that it’ll be yours again.” Lucian corrected, giving her a reassuring hug. Cecilia came bounding over, happy and energetic.
“Mommy! Didja see how fast I went down the slide?” she asked, looking over at Lucian, “Who are you, Mistur?”
Lucian squatted down, “I’m an old friend of your mother’s.” he said, smiling warmly as he gave her a soft pat on the head. Cecilia’s face looked similar to Robin’s, but the eyes were distinctively like Lucian’s.
“Oh, well nice to meet you Mistur.” She said, sticking her hand out sharply for his own to accept, which he did with a nice soft handshake. Cecilia ran over to Robin, hugging her leg, “Can we get ice-cream on the way home?”
Robin chuckled. “Now sweetie, you know that’ll spoil dinner, right?” she said, which warranted a pouting face from Cecilia. Lucian chuckled, “I think she should have some ice-cream, for going so fast on the slide.”
Cecilia beamed, giving Lucian a quick hug before running back over to Robin, holding her hand, “Thanks Mistur! You’re very nice.”
Robin squeezed Cecilia’s hand softly, “You go and get your toys, and we can get some ice-cream straight after.” She said, as Cecilia ran back over to the sandlot. “You always did have a way with words, Fa-I mean. Lucian.”
Lucian smiled, giving Robin one last kiss on her cheek, “Thanks, from the past, and from the future…you should have told me when you were pregnant.” He said, looking at Cecilia again.
Robin shook her head, “I didn’t want to bother you. Besides, she had Steve to be there when she was born, so it felt a bit better.”
Lucian nodded, “Guess you’re right. Next time you’re around, let me treat you to coffee.” He said, walking off as he gave Robin a wave goodbye.
