< Tape starts recording >
Matt: Lucian…you’re back for another interview? Lucian: Yes…is that a problem? Matt: No, not at all…is there more you want to share? Lucian: Well, otherwise I wouldn’t be here, right?
< Lucian chuckles; the sound of a cigarette being lit can be heard >
M: So…when we last talked, < sound of papers being ruffled > we got to the part where you became Demon Lord. Is there more you want to talk about after that, or is this more of your past? L: My past…something that I’ve only shared with one person, and you know who that is. M: Of course…let’s start with when you met Robin. How long ago was that?
< Lucian exhales smoke away from Matt, then flicks the ash into a tray >
L: It would have been ten years after my death. I was in some town in Europe, when I heard of a group that were hunting some sort of mythical demon. Apparently, this beast was indestructible. At the time, I was thinking they were after me, but turns out I was wrong. M: I see… so, they found you and mistook you for that demon, correct? L: < nods slowly > Well, that’s the nice way of putting it… the technical term was a silver bolt through my shoulder. When I convinced them I wasn’t who they were after, Robin stepped up and healed my wound. M: Now Robin, she’s a witch, correct? L: Was. M: Sorry… That was when you joined with her demon group, yes? L: No… that was years later, after Pearl Harbour. Big moment for demons to rise up and cause havoc. M: And I remember you saying you actually avoided that… still hard to believe that, Luc. L: < chuckles > Believe it… drunk under the table and unfit to fly. A few weeks after that, a small surge broke loose in Hawaii. Robin, amazingly, and her team were called in by the US Govt. to deal with them. She couldn’t believe I was alive when we ran into each other. M: And… she hadn’t changed, right? L: Yes, being a witch helped out back then. Sure, her old partners had retired and their sons and daughters taking their place, but she looked as beautiful as she did the first time I met her.
M: Look Lucian, if you’re not comfortable with this… L: No, I’ve bottled it up for far too long. I owe it to Robin. M: Alright… you joined with her after Pearl Harbour. L: < puts out stub of cigarette > Yes, at the time I was hiding my heritage well, despite Robin knowing. During our time working, we… fell in love. M: Didn’t it cause problems with the group? L: Not at all, in fact they were thrilled. Thrilled and sick of the constant vibe the two of us gave. Marcus and Elena, the other two of our group, were already together, and they knew Robin and I were hiding our feelings for each other. M: Those two were the ones involved in the horrific slaughter, weren’t they…? L: Yes… M: Moving on… What caused you and Robin to separate? L: It was a sting mission. My heritage had leaked, and Robin had to make a choice. Luckily, her, Marcus and Elena were on my side, but the city wasn’t. I was forced to leave, which broke her heart. But she moved on, and gave birth to Cecilia. M: Cecilia… she’s your daughter, isn’t she? L: Yes, but given the time, I couldn’t be there for her. It was lucky she found Steve first, before she gave birth. She used her magic to delay it as best she could, until the time was right. M: Cecilia doesn’t know, does she? L: No… I’ve not had contact with her for a long time. God knows how old she would be now. M: There’s something I’ve been meaning to ask… even though you died, you somehow lived. Are you going to ever die again? L: One day… < chuckles and grins at Matt > Don’t confuse me for some sort of Time Lord… I can’t pull a regeneration whenever I need to. But the worst part is that I know it’s coming.
M: Wait. You know you’re going to die? Have you told Tess? L: No, and it’s better that way. If she were to know, it would ruin her and she would try everything to prevent it, but it’s inevitable. M: I don’t see how you can think that, Lucian. L: My dreams…there’s a man in silver. With a hood that has an infinity symbol etched on it’s cowl. I don’t know who it is, but for some reason it feels so familiar. M: What does he say to you? L: “Time ended once, and soon it shall again. Your past and future merge as one, in your soul, my friend.”
< Matt shudders slightly, as if experiencing a chill >
L: You alright there? M: Mhmm, just thinking… What makes you think it’s something, or someone familiar? L: The eyes. They look like mine every time.. M: Lucian… L: Matt, you’re the only person I trust with this. Tess can never know what I am about to tell you, okay? It’s hard enough that she knows my life, but to know my end…
< Matt leans back slightly, a worried look on his face >
M: Luc, you’re scaring me… L: Just listen. I’m not going to be around for much longer. Brice, that girl, she’s a clue to something bad I did in my past, and if she actually remembers, then it will bring about so much pain to not just her and myself, but to everyone else. If that happens, I have no choice but to confront and suffer my fate. M: Your fate? Stop talking nonsense, it’s creeping me out. L: Listen to me. < leans over to Matt > For once in my lifetime I am scared. It’s a moment where I don’t want to cause myself to die. M: You keep saying you’re going to cause yourself to die, but you don’t say how! What makes you think you’ll die?!
< tape clicks, indicating the end of the recording >
