'Luna, wake up!'
I carefully opened one eye to see my father bashing through the door. I moaned slightly at the noise but went back to sleep anyway. 'I know you heard me Luna!' my father said angrily while grabbing my arm, ready to pull me out of bed if i didn't listen.
'But daaad!' I whined softly and gave him a pleading look.
'No buts, Luna, you know what day it is today, don't you?'
I thought for a moment but nothing came to my mind. 'Not really...' I mumbled. My father sighed loudly and gave me a sceptical look. 'What? I really don't know.' and honestly, I didn't!
'I guess I’ll have to tell you then.'
I nodded.
'Your Uncle and Aunt are coming to visit us in a few hours. They're going to announce the new Princess.'
I frowned at the last word. I didn't even know princesses still existed. 'And what does that have to do with me?'
My father chuckled at my question. 'Use your brain, Luna.' and with that he left my room and went downstairs.
With a loud sigh I got out of my bed and skipped over to my dresser wondering what to wear.
Eventually I picked a comfy black turtleneck sweater, white shorts and black tights.
'Finally, you're up!' my sister exclaimed loudly when I stepped into our big living room. I walked past her and plopped down on the couch. 'You just love ignoring me, don't you?'
I gave her a wide grin and nodded. 'Of course I do!'
She laughed softly but quickly switched to a serious face. 'Did you hear why our uncle and aunt are coming?'
I nodded slowly.
'You know that you're a candidate right?' My eyes grew as wide as saucers. 'I'm a what?!' My sister looked pretty confused. It seems like everyone knew except me. How lovely.
'You didn't know..?' I shook my head lightly while staring at the carpet. 'Dad never tells me anything. Especially when it actually does concern me.' I stood up en looked at my sister. 'Please help me to get out of this, I don't want to be a princess.' I almost whined.
My sister offered me a small smile before standing up as well. 'Of course, sis.'
'You have a plan?'
She smiled again. Thank god, it looks like she has one! 'Don't be silly, of course I don't have a plan yet.'
I almost face palmed at that I think. My sister really was a complete moron. 'How much time do we have left?' I asked her. 'About three hours I guess.'
I sat down again and tried to think of a plan. I didn't quite succeed because my dumb a** of a sister was humming a stupid song. 'Can you please stop that?' I asked her with quite an angry tone.
She immediately stopped. 'Sorry sis, I didn't know I was distracting you.'
I sighed, I've noticed that I did that a lot today. 'It doesn't matter.'
We sat in silence for a while, thinking of a plan until my father stepped into the room. 'Luna!' he almost screamed. Me and my sister quickly covered our ears to dim the sound. 'Dad, Please don't scream.' I said calmly.
'Yes dad, you almost scream as hard as a little girl.' My sister pointed out with a Cheshire grin plastered on her face.
I know it wasn't very appropriate to laugh but I couldn't help myself so I did.
My dad shot me an angry look. 'Very funny, Liese.'
I rolled my eyes when she giggled, she was such a child sometimes and she was 15 years old for gods sake!
'But Luna, why are you dressed like that?! Couldn't you pick something more...formal?' He still seemed pretty angry.
'But dad, that's not my fault, you didn't tell me a thing!' I shot back.
He didn't answer immediately, I guess he was thinking of what he had to say. 'Well…that's true...but,' he started. '...never mind, I guess you're right.'
I smiled triumphantly and skipped to my room.
'Be sure to pick something stunning!' he called out to me.
'Dad, I'm only nine years old!' that seemed to shut him up.
A few minutes later I came down the stairs in a beautiful, my dad would definitely call it stunning, dress.
'Wow Luna, you look great!' My sister complemented me. My father nodded and I smiled at both of them. 'Thanks.'
My father easily lifted me up and hugged me. 'You're welcome, my little princess.' He said and gave me a kiss on my forehead. 'Daaad, let go of me!' I growled while struggling against him.
What? Don't judge me, I don't like clingy people.
He grinned stupidly en sat me down on the floor. 'I'm sorry love, I'll leave you two alone.'
I sighed happily when he was gone. 'Got one.'
I think I looked pretty confused when my sister suddenly said that.
'A plan I mean.'
'Oh! Tell me.'
She nodded. 'Let's sneak out.'
I have to say, I was pretty damn shocked. 'You want to sneak out of the house…?'
She laughed and shook her head. 'No, I just want you to sneak out of the house.'
I was about to say something but I didn't get the chance.
'You can come back after a few hours, when they heard you ran away, they won't think of you as suitable to be a princess anymore.' …This girl's brilliant…
'Isn't that like, the most perfect plan you can think of?'
I nodded slowly.
'Good!'
'But Liese, what if I get caught? Dad will hate me forever!' I looked at my sister, trembling a bit.
'Stop being pessimistic Luna. You won't get caught.' She gave me a comforting smile before continuing. 'Because I'll be helping you of course!'
