The next day I woke up with a terrible headache and the sun shining directly in my face. I groaned loudly and looked around the room. My butler was standing next to my bed. 'Good morning, miss.' He greeted politely and gave me a small smile. 'Good morning.' I greeted back just as politely even though it came out more like a growl. 'Could you please close the curtains for me?' The sun is too bright.'
He nodded and closed the curtains immediately.
'Thank you.' I smiled at him. He returned the gesture before going back to his standard stoic face.
'Breakfast is ready, milady. Your father is waiting for you.' He informed me.
'What about my mother?' I asked.
'She's ill.'
'Oh.' I definitely did not expect that. I shrugged it off and hopped, not as elegantly as the butler would have liked, out of bed. 'Tell him I'll be down in a few minutes.'
He nodded and with a quick bow he walked out of my room, downstairs.
I skipped over to my dresser and began rummaging through my clothes. 'What to wear...?' I asked myself. I pulled out a simple baby blue dress. 'This'll do.' I said happily and changed.
'Luna, are you done?'
I turned around and saw Liese's head peeking out of my dooropening. 'Yep, all done.' I said and walked down the stairs with her, into the dining room.
'Good morning girls.' My father greeted and set down his cup of coffee.
'Morning dad.' We greeted back and sat down.
When everyone was eating I couldn't help but notice my father staring at me. At first I ignored it and made it look like I hadn't seen it but after a while I started to feel pretty uneasy so I decided to speak up. 'Is there something wrong?' I asked, Looking up at him.
'Not really...' He answered but I didn't quite believe him.
'Well...ok then.' I said and stood up. 'I'm done eating, I'm going outside.'
'Take someone with you, Luna.'
I ignored him and quickly went outside.
Without thinking I began to walk towards the broken part of the fence.
'Milady!' someone shouted. I turned around to see who called me. It was one of the gardeners. 'Is there something wrong?' I asked him.
'Ehm, no.' he began. 'I just wanted to ask where you're going.'
'Nowhere in particular, I'm just taking a short walk.' I answered. 'That's not a problem right?'
He quickly shook his head and went back to his work. 'Of course not milady, enjoy your walk.'
I smiled a little and continued walking.
After a few walking for a few minutes I noticed that there was no one around. 'Liese was right, it's like everyone avoids this part of the garden.' I thought and I really began to wonder why.
I sat down on the same rock as before and looked around. 'It's not like anything looks weird. The only difference is that everything is overgrown.' I decided I should ask my father about it. I was sure he'd know.
I stayed there for only god knows how long, enjoying the sun and the silence until I saw my father running towards me.
'Luna! What are you doing here?' he asked when he had reached me.
'Sitting.' I stated simply.
'I can see that. But why here?'
I laughed softly and rolled my eyes at him. 'Because this is the only part of the whole house, garden included, where it doesn't feel like you're going crazy because of the noise.'
He grinned and sat next to me. 'I guess that makes sense.' he said while slowly nodding his head. 'Of course it does.' I stated matter of factly. 'But tell me, why don't you want me to come here.'
'Well, they say it's haunted.'
I quickly placed my hand in front of my mouth to hide the smirk that forced itself on my face. 'Don't tell me you actually believe in ghost stories.' I removed my hand and let the grin on my face widen.
'Of course I don't.' He said while standing up. He grabbed my hand and pulled me next to him. 'Let's just go inside. This place really gives me the creeps.'
I let the grin return on my face as he tugged me away from my quiet place. 'You're scared.'
He forced out a laugh and gave me a look that I easily could read as 'Do you even know who you're talking to?!'
'Of course I'm not scared. I'm an adult. We're not scared of anything.'
As tried not to laugh I nodded my head in agreement. 'Dream on.' I thought.
