Act IV Scene II: A Game of Go

Fifteen years after his second trial, Ghost was physically unchanged but mentally he was completely different. More than anything else, he was extremely irritated. He had a feeling that the second trial was bull s**t, but there was nothing he could do about it. All he could do was sit around. No one around him knew what he was thinking, and after his trial Ghost was assigned a cell mate. Some kid, barely eighteen serving some crime far more minor than Ghost's for five years.

"So... I hear you're called 'Ghost'" The kid said on his second day. Ghost did not respond. "What's your real name?" No response. "It's cool... It's cool. Ghost is an epic name. Why do they call you Ghost?" Silence. This continued all day, with the kid barraging Ghost with questions he never answered.

On the third day, Ghost finally spoke. "Kid, you have a name?"
The kid's eyes lit up at his cell mate's words. "Justin Black."
"Okay, Justin. I don't like talking. I've been in here for one hundred sixty five years and I'm going to be in here a lot longer, if I talked to people I'd be even more bored than I already am."
After that, the kid stopped talking.

But a few weeks later, one of the guards came into Ghost and Justin's cell. "Ghost, you got a visitor." In shock, Ghost glared at Justin. The kid's face was completely lit up with a stupid grin across his face. Without a choice, Ghost went to meet up with his guest.

A young woman sat with a Go board in front of her. When Ghost approached, she smiled at him and set the white pieces on his side of the table. Cautiously, Ghost sat down and eyed her.

"You are Ghost, correct?" she said softly. Her voice was musical and light, reminding him of a voice he hadn't heard in a long, long time...
"So what?" Ghost growled.
"My brother has told me about you."
Ghost felt like slamming his head into a wall. That damned kid...
"He said that you could use a game of Go." she continued.
At this point, Ghost wanted to just leave, but he knew the guards wouldn't allow it. He was familiar with Go, and so he knew that all he had to do was surround her pieces and then he could get rid of them.
"I'm Natalie, by the way." she said, placing a black piece on the board and hitting the clock to switch it over to Ghost.

The silent game of Go lasted until Natalie won with one piece more. They both stood up to leave, and before leaving Natalie said with a smile, "I'll see you next week; I come here once a week to visit my brother."
