Act IV Scene IV: The Looming Shadow
The telephone rang throughout the apartment. Stumbling over the furniture, Natalie barely reached the phone before it went to voice message.
"Hello?"
"Ms. Black?"
"Yes, that's me."
"This is Sebastian King... I'm a new guard at the prison where your brother and Ghost were imprisoned." The voice on the other end was shaking.
Sweat ran down Natalie's face. "'Were imprisoned'?" she repeated.
"Yes ma'am... At 00:01 this morning, Ghost broke out..." Sebastian trailed off on the other end.
"And...?" Though Natalie was asking, she knew the answer.
"Ghost... Killed everyone. Prisoners, guards, the warden, your brother... The entire facility was blown to pieces."
"No survivors...?" Natalie was so chocked up that it was hard to get the words out.
"None..." On the other end, Sebastian was crying.
Natalie couldn't bring herself to respond.
"I called you because... I know you knew Ghost... If he comes to you looking for you to hide him... I want you to know that he's dangerous... More dangerous then you realize."
She felt as though she should defend him, but she couldn't.
"Because... What's dangerous about Ghost is that he doesn't look dangerous."
To be continued...
