Electric ~Chapter Two
Ami kicked the heel of her foot against the dirt then dug it into the ground, leaning over in a ready position as her ear listened out for the alarm. Her mind was in a total state of focus though regardless of the fact that her body was ragged with relunctance. She was no one to be athlectic but her mother pushed her out for the track team. All she remembered was her stating something about being more active and the next thing she knew she was jumping over vaults and tossing heavy medicine balls.

Pop!

The gun shot off into the vastness of the blue sky and she took off with a leap, pumping her legs as fast as she could as heavy breaths heaved in and out with a bit of a struggle. Her ears became hot and her face flushed redder but she kept running as long as her legs were attached she would move. Unfortunately, being probably the shortest there, her legs couldn't take her as far in a shorter amount of time as she'd like so she had to work twice as hard and soon became tired, pulling from her firm spot in third all the way back to sixth. As she crossed the finished line she was tired and disappointed, the frown on her face wouldn't go away as she coughed and looked at all the other girls. They smiled with their triumph.

Next was the boys' race, and Ami sat down with her bottle of water, her blue hair clinging to her pinked face with sweat. She sighed heavily, eyes scanning the group as they all got into their stances. And then her violet eyes paused.

Dressed in comfortable black shorts and a white shirt, the boy with the flippy corn-yellow hair bent low and prepared himself for the gun shot. The light sparkling on his steely gray eyes almost seemed to reflect like metal and his figure was absolutely flawless from his sharp, but smooth jawline to his oddly fair skin. He was absolutely gorgeous.

Pop!

The gun set off again and the boys took off like jets, the gray-eyed Shouji moving steadily from the back then slowly moving up to the front until he was neck and neck with the guy in first. Just as the race was beginning to end, a burst of speed from seemingly no where erupted in the flawless lad's legs and he pulled far ahead of the other boys, crossing the finish line in a clean first. Ami's jaw dropped revealing rows of pearly white teeth. Her violet eyes widened. She had never seen anyone run so well. This boy was amazing.

Event after event passed and Ami no longer saw the boy in any of them, but after talking about it with Moko-who had missed it because she was participating in the long jump-both agreed that they wanted to learn a little more about him.

"Did you even know he was on the team?" Ami asked in silent awe, changing out of her gym outfit back into her navy blue sweater and lime green skirt. Her glasses always matched her outfit. Moko shook her head, putting her finger up to her chin and tapped, as if trying to recall.

"Nope. Never seen him. Maybe he's new." She placed back on her frilly pink, but short dress and matching-colored beret.

"Maybe." Ami responded, grabbing her backpack and sketchbook before stepping outside the changing room with her best friend. Honestly she was not looking forward to seeing him more for he was sure to fall head over heels for Oshima just as everyone else did. She sighed and they began to cross the street.

"Even still I guess..."

HONK HONK!

A truck came speeding down the road, headlights dead on Ami as she stood helpless in the middle of the street. Her heart raced. Her body froze. Her entire mind shut down as her wide eyes stared petrified at the giant object coming her way.

VROOM!

Pinned down to the ground, Yoko looked up feebly and gasped, watching the truck roll by her and continue on its path. Her narrowed pupils began to relax as her violet glare turned to her savior, her whole body was pale and feeble. She blew a strand of blue hair from her face and stared straight into piercing gray eyes. She sucked in a breath of air.

"Hey, you ok?" he asked, rising slowly to his feet then grabbing for her hand to help her to her feet. She accepted it, nodding her head and both brushing off their clothing before looking back up at each other.

"Th-th-thanks." Ami blushed, embarrased that she got herself nearly killed. She bent over and grabbed up her book and backpack, looking back up at the boy with a weak smile. "Shouji was it? Well thank you so much for saving me."

Shouji shrugged, almost unfazed as he returned her small smile with one of his own though this one better in its grandeur. "T'was nothing."

She hugged her book close to her, her friend Moko pulling up beside her and resting her hand on her shoulder. After moments of confirming that she felt fine the two thanked the golden-blonde boy and began to head home. He waved back at them and walked in the other direction.

"Strange boy." remarked Moko

"Strange boy who saved my life." Ami reminded.

(Btw, Yoko Ami means Positive Friend)
