Yeah, okay, so my journal entry has nothing to do with brains. So sue me for false advertising. What this is really about is the time Kuro spent in North Carolina. It's gonna have sub-headings. =D;;
Seven Lakes is the Shizz.
My grandparents moved pretty recently to a little teeny place in North Carolina. The town they live in has lots of pretty, probably incredibly expensive houses. They live about a mile from a man-made lake where you can swim, boat, fish, or build sand castles on the beach. But the lake comes later.
Anyway, my mom wanted to go visit my grandparents, and they wanted us to see their new house and their dog. So my mommy planned a trip for her, my little brother and sister, me, and a friend. That friend was Tori. We got to my grandparents' house, and she freaked. They're house is really freakin' nice. And we were sleeping in the computer room. We had our own bathroom. <333
Living on a Lake Seems to Entail that Most Daytime Activities Involve Water.
Day one involved Tori and me sleeping until ten-something, then eating breakfast and going to the lake. The lake is nice. The lake is clean. The lake lacks things that will A) wrap their stinging little tentacles around your ankle and/or B) try to eat you. Tori and I had a grand old time. We met a little girl named Jessica, and her older brother Parker. Jessica was a good kid. Some of the stuff she said made me laugh, and she liked Goldfish. The downside to the lake was a slight sunburn on my shoulders and the fact that I was a sandy mess when we got back to the house.
Day two started out with Tori and me waking up at eleven to find out that my family had already left us to start their day. My mom and little brother and sister were at the pool, my grandmother was at a job interview for a management position at a church, and I wasn't sure where my grandfather had gone. We were left with the dog, Sam. At least they left us some sausages. Those were good. After we ate breakfast, my mom came and picked us up and took us to the pool. It was fun, in a five-year-old sort of way. Tori and my little brother and I played 'Godzilla Harbor', which involved us picking up three toy boats and repeatedly sinking them. Tori and I then went on to create our own little world away from reality and sink our ships so we could make them into 'ghost-y ships'. Pitiful, yes. Fun, hell yeah!
After the pool, my grandmother took Tori, my little brother, and I to this little bookstore/cafe. It was awesome. The whole place had that small-town feeling, and the people were so nice. The lady in the bookstore knew a lot about just about all the books and authors in the store. She was cool. The cafe in the next room of the building was so cool. It had a whole bunch of mismatched furniture that gave it a really homey feel, and the awning over the counter was covered with burlap sacking, which was weird and awesome. And people had written all over the ceiling. <3 They made so-so Chai tea. I've had better and worse, but I loved the cafe itself. When we were done in the bookstore/cafe, my grandmother took us to the hardware store so my little brother could get a fishing rod. He went fishing when we got home, and the rest of the night was pretty uneventful.
The third day wasn't very exciting. We went out and saw Nacho Libre in the teeny tiny movie theater in the next town or a couple towns over. It was kinda stupid, though there were a couple funny parts. We went to the grocery store to stock up on car snacks for the trip home.
The fourth day, we left, leading to...
The Car Ride from Hell!
Things started out pretty normal. We headed out, and Tori asked for a painkiller. My mom gave her that and a drink. We ate some Goldfish. My little brother played on the PS2. And then...Tori got sick. Bodily noises. Are. Gross. 'Nuff said.
Ah, I Missed Home.
After the car ride from hell part of things, we got home and life was pretty normal. We went out to the Outback Steakhouse for dinner, since my dad had giftcards from us. Nothing too exciting. My little sister punched me in the eye. My little sister has been subjected to the horrible influences of all her older siblings since she was old enough to be influenced. But she's just six, so I didn't have to attack her for giving me a black eye. Phew.
