Will was waiting for her as Capt. Deep maneuvered around the dead naval men’s bodies. Will was sitting on the couch he slept on fretting. He seemed relieved when Capt. Deep came down the stairs. Will stood and the two threw their arms around each other. “What am I going to do? I can’t face him.”
“You’ll figure it out, don’t worry.” Capt. Deep assured him.
The two let each other go and stood back. Will was obviously very upset as he looked out the window at his father’s ship. He sighed. The two turned to face each other. Capt. Deep put her arm on his shoulder and smiled lovingly at him. “Let’s go back on deck; I’m sure he won’t see you now.”
The two proceeded up the stairs, but Will insisted that Capt. Deep go first. She popped her head up and nodded back to him to give him the “all clear” signal. The two then proceeded out and onto the deck, where they were given a drink to celebrate with.
Then there was a slight boom off in the distance. Thunder? Capt. Deep thought.
Then the mast cracked and shattered. Splinters rained down upon their heads, and the red sail enclosed them. Capt. Deep pushed Will from the sail, and it fell on top of everyone else. Will quickly pulled the sails up and away, and helped out the others. Those who weren’t injured also helped him.
As soon as all pirates were sprawled out on deck, Capt. Deep and Capt. Smith spoke together to try and make a plan as far as what they were going to do with the injured pirates. Capt. Deep suggested they stop in Cuba, and look for a doctor and a ship repair shop. “I don’t know Rina, Cuba is a pretty big place.” Will said.
“Yes, so there are bound to be more doctors for my crew and my ship.” Capt. Deep said.
“But they may be harder to find.” Will said. “And besides, how will we get there if our main mast is down?”
“We don’t need the main mast to only make a north-western turn. We only need a wheel and the two other smaller sails we have up. I should see how the wind is blowing and in what direction.” Capt. Deep said. “I may have to lock the rudder in place.”
Will sighed. “I don’t think this is going to work, but I trust you.” Will said. “I just hope you know what you’re doing.”
“I’ve been sailing since I was fifteen, how could I not know what I was doing?” Capt. Deep smiled at him. “Besides, the risks you take in life are always fun.”
