The crew eagerly agreed that pillaging was definitely a grand idea, and that they would have better chances of having acceptable money. They stayed at sea for the remainder of the day, and they sailed foreword to Cuba, where they pulled into port at sunset. This was perfect for pillaging. If it was after dark it was harder to distinguish faces, and it was easier to find people asleep and unsuspecting.
They tossed their anchor to the sea, and they made themselves ready. Capt. Deep went down into her quarters, and Will followed. Capt. Deep grabbed a change of clothing and stood behind a small partition and changed her clothing. Will saw an opportunity for himself to change as well, and he also took a pair of clothing that he had manage to save as his ship sunk. He changed into those, and adjusted his hair. Capt. Deep did nothing with her hair except comb it out, and she headed out on deck.
The two crews then headed out onto the port, and they walked out into the town. The first one they visited was a sleepy old town with two story houses and balconies. There were fisherman sleeping on benches outside bait shops and other seaside shops. There was an old black cat that ran down the alley as the pirates walked through the streets. They walked through the marketplace until they came to an old seafood restaurant. It looked very profitable and expensive. It wasn’t very big but it was incredibly exquisite in design.
They headed in and in a second a waitress was standing up before them saying “I’m sorry, but we’re closed. We open at 7:00 am tomorrow morning if you’d like to enjoy our breakfast buffet.”
“No, your food isn’t what concerns us.” Capt. Deep said, plainly and with a sigh.
“Well, then what can I help you with?” The waitress asked politely.
Will shot forth from the crowd with his blade pointed upon her, and he growled. “Bring forth your loot to us, for we are pirates!”
The waitress turned and ran screaming, and tried to open he manager’s office. It was locked, and the girl was trapped outside with ruthless pirates. “Please, have mercy. The ‘loot’ as you said is in my manager’s office and I can not get in.” She was nearly sobbing now.
The two captains whispered to each other momentarily and then gestured their heads to tell her to leave. The girl half crawled half ran away from the group, and quietly slunk out the front door to get help from police forces.
Oblivious to her act, the pirates broke the thick wooden door down, and it splintered as it hit the stone floor. The manager was asleep in his chair with a glass bottle in his hand. His grisly beard had a few pieces of what appeared to be some sort of crab dish and his plate was on his desk. Capt. Deep bravely walked up to the man and tapped him. He didn’t stur, and she took his glass plate and shattered against his oak desk. He remained dead asleep and only turned his head slightly as if moving according to his dream. His eyebrows moved closer together for a moment, but he didn’t awaken. “Alright, now where’s his loot?” Capt. Deep sneered.
They moved about the room checking every nook and cranny for his money. They found a small closet and inside there was a desk with papers and a light. There were pens and stickers for sealing envelopes. Underneath the desk there was a shadow that shielded whatever was under the desk. Charlie reached down and grabbed a chest from under it. They pulled it out and tried their very best to open it. It was locked however, and they needed the key.
They all instantly thought that the manager may possible have it. They bolted over to him and searched him, but there was nothing. The only thing there was extra little bits of seafood that he hadn’t finished. “Maybe they keep the key to the chest in the same place they keep the key to the front door.” Will suggested.
“Where would that be?” Capt. Deep asked.
“Well, there can’t be too many workers, because the restaurant isn’t very big, so my guess would be the waitress we found when we came.” Will resolved.
“Yes, that sounds reasonable. Where is she then?” Capt. Deep agreed, looking back and forth rapidly.
“She should be in the lobby.” Dojer said.
“No, she turned tail and ran.” One of Will’s crewmates said. He was standing in the doorway, and he had just come to check if the waitress was there.
The crews ran out into the lobby and found it empty, only the ruminants of dinner that had not yet been put away in their proper places. “We should get out of here, maybe head into the neighborhoods.” Capt. Deep said.
“What about the chest?” Will asked in desperation.
“Would you rather be in prison? I can tell you it’s no party.” Capt. Deep said, remembering all of the times she was arrested.
The crews were hesitant, not wanting to leave their treasure behind, but they decided she was right. The waitress would tell the police to come to the restaurant, and if they weren’t there they might be able to sneak away from the police for a moment.
They headed into the neighborhoods, and spilt up. Three or four would rob from one street, and three or four more would rob from another street. The sets of houses were all very fine, so they were confident they would be getting a good deal of money from these people.
The last house belonged to some of the wealthiest residents in the town, and Will and Capt. Deep were the only ones left who could tackle it. They ran up to the doorway, not knowing that it was indeed the governor’s house.
There was a girl in one window that no one saw, and she was fear-stricken by the pirates careening towards her home. She was fascinated by them, and she instantly went to alert her father. However, her father was out at the fort with the naval men under his control. Her mother had passed away last week, and there was only her baby brother left with her in the house, besides the butlers and maids. She knew that she couldn’t fight the pirates, so she grabbed her baby brother and silenced him with a small bit of candy. She grabbed some shoes for herself and that was all. She made her way to the back exit, where Capt. Deep had gone around because the front door was locked. Will was at the front door, and he was ringing the doorbell, waiting for a butler to open the door for him.
She came face-to-face with Capt. Deep who glared down at the two siblings. Capt. Deep then felt a sudden emotion that she would never picture herself feeling. She wondered how she would feel if those were her children. She had no children at the time of course, but she wanted at least two. One boy and one girl, and they were standing before her. She couldn’t kidnap them, not when she was only trying to steal money. She scoffed at the children, and picked them up. The baby began to cry, but Capt. Deep silenced him with a bit of candy from the girl’s pocket. She put them by the side of the road and said to them “Do no go past any of the streets to the left of us, because I don’t know if my crew would try to do you harm. Hide here until we’re gone.”
The girl was confused, and her brother was sniffling. “Why are you doing this?” She asked.
“I’m saving you because if you were mine I would kill the man and all of his accomplices who harmed you. I wouldn’t want that happening to me.” Capt. Deep winked and ran off back to the house.
The girl was still heart-broken because she feared for what would become of her beloved home. She sighed, and took her brother behind a hedge.
Will had gotten in and Capt. Deep was joined up with him now. “Where have you been?” Will asked.
“I was helping the two children who reside here.” Capt. Deep said. “I want two of my own, didn’t you know?”
Will coughed and she saw him blush slightly. “Well, where do you think they may have their money hidden?” Will asked, changing the subject.
“I think in the master’s room; at least that would be my guess.” Capt. Deep said, and they headed for the empty room.
They opened all cabinets and such, until they found a droor full of money. “Don’t rob them blind, I want enough for the kids.” Capt. Deep said, stuffing her pockets with what she could.
“Why do you care so much?” Will asked.
“I told you, I want two of my own.” Capt. Deep said. “Now I can’t explain the rest to you now, let’s just get going.”
The crews met up outside the governor’s house and Capt. Deep only glanced over to the hedge where the girl and boy stayed. That was a sort of signal telling them that they wee leaving now, and had no desire to harm them or frighten them any longer. The girl was very relieved that her house was still in one piece. The pirates had got what they had come for, and they were satisfied with that. But the younger boy made a small noise, but one of Capt. Deep’s crewmates heard it and was alert. “What was that?” He beamed. He saw them squatting behind the hedge, and got an evil idea. “”Why don’t we take with us a souvenir, eh mates?”
None of the crew followed because they had all been told never to harm children unless they were out only to bring the whole city to its knees, and even then they had to be merciful or the captain would not be.
This pirate knew not of the rule, and the girl was far too frightened of the brute to run. Capt. Deep lunged for the man, and gave him a good swift punch in the nose to straighten him out. “I should give you the lecture when we return to the ship.” She scolded him and they ran out to town.
There was gunfire at their heels, as they evaded the police at the restaurant. They climbed aboard their ship, and not a single police officer saw their faces. They had their sails drawn as well, so their ship was unrecognizable.
They sailed out to sea, and they circled over to another side of the island. They hoisted anchor and laughed. They counted their bounty and found they had even more than predicted. Every pirate had at least four pockets full of money, and they were extremely content.
