Dogs like Mentos. That was just some information I thought you should know.

I will never have to deal with the crazy propane man again! I finally went out there and attached the hoses that I'd bought last weekend to the propane bottles. I attached the first one easily enough and checked for leaks and after I got the second old one off and was putting on the second hose, I had that Destiny's Child "Independent Women" song goin' in my head. Hahahha! As soon as I got it on there and checked for leaks, I had moved onto "We are the champions, no time for losers, 'cause we are the champions... OF THE WORLD!" Yeah, that is my triumphant song. Heheh. So now I've attached the hoses, checked for leaks and lit the pilot. Woot!

Still, it's kinda scary the first time you do something like that 'cause what if I did something wrong and I come home to a charred shell of a home? Everything looked good though, everything seemed alright. Keep your fingers crossed for me. It was one of those things that seemed almost too easy. It makes me suspicious...

I might have a new neighbor on the other side of my green fence. He's not sure if the lot is going to be big enough for the mobile home he's havin' built. Hopefully it will be. He seemed a nice guy.

I felt it only appropriate to be neighborly and say hello to him and welcome him to the park. That's all it takes sometimes. There is something about me that makes people open up and tell me everything about them.

He asked me about my Airstream and told me about the one he had that he'd just sold. He told me that he had a really big house, but his wife passed away recently (I believe last year was what he said) and the house was too big for him and his dog. He kind of paused and walked away, and I thought he was done talkin' to me but then he sort of came back and I realized that he was chokin' up over his wife.

He told me that she was buried in the cemetery just next to the park. Her name is Evelyn, I knew before he told me because I saw the tattoo on his arm. He told me he had gotten it just three months ago. Evelyn was the love of his life and he said she still was. Again he started choking up.

You wouldn't believe it to see him either. Although he said he was 70, he looked like he'd always been one of those big, tough guys. He said he still rode his motorcycles and I smiled. He looked like that type.

He told me how his house was too big for him to take care of by himself and how he'd hired a maid to help him clean it but she came to him one day holding his wife's two robes that had been in the bathroom and asked him what to do with them. He told her to put them back exactly as she'd found them. The maid tried to do the same thing with his wife's things on her night table and again he told her to put everything back exactly as she found it. He told me that he would pick up all the little bottles and dust, but then he'd put each of them exactly where she'd left them. I'm surprised I wasn't crying by then.

He then told me how before she died he had to help her to get her shower at night with a little chair in the bath, but even before that every night they would take their shower together and afterwards she would get either Estee Lauder, Passion, or Obsession and spray it between her breasts, on her stomach, on her "private parts", and on her legs and then they'd go to bed. He said that she always smelled so good to him and after she died, he couldn't sleep for months. He said that he sprayed some Estee Lauder on his arms and that was the only way he could sleep. I have no idea how I wasn't crying at that point!

He continued to talk for a while telling me about his sailboat and the grandfather clock he'd bought after he and Evelyn had been married 20 days. It was the first thing they bought together and he needed a place big enough that he could have that clock and a lot of the other furniture and things. I then felt it strange that I hadn't introduced myself. So I told him my name and Pepper's and he said his name was Bill and he introduced me to his dog, Friggin'. He said it was his wife's dog, but now it was his Friggin' dog. I hope his mobile home fits the lot. He seemed a nice guy.

I love being able to do something that I wasn't sure I could.
