The dragons and the shadows were enemies since, well, the beginning of time. The hatred was passed down for generations, based primarily on fear and instinct. So, when the prince of dragons sleeps with a shadow demon whore, no one wants to be near the child.

Milani was that child. Illigitement, with no hope for inherritance. Still, she was the first born, so her mother took her to her father as soon as she could walk, hoping to gain a bit for herself. But Katsu wanted nothing to do with his child, and so, she was abandoned.

For two days, Milani wandered. She ended up in the garden of the last silver grand alpha wolf, Kioko. The silver took her in, and together, they became the Midnight Sisters, the greatest female theives in all of the Makai. For years they were at the top, literally rolling in treasures. Milani changed her name to Shadow Shinoryu in honor of her mixed blood, and she planned to stay the young Midnight forever...

Then she met Zotoro, her one true love. They became inseperable, and after a short while, had a baby boy named Kuro. Beautifully energetic, and gifted (or cursed...) with a strong will (stubbornness). He was 3 years old when he was violently murdured. By Zotoro.
