"FIRE!" Screamed Commisar Valorum, and the next second a barrage of shells flew from the armored division of the Cadian 23rd into the
jungle. For days the regiment had set up a base, knowing that a large group of Chaos was on the way. The Commisar gave an involuntary shudder at the
thought of heretics. He had fought splinter fleets of Tyranids, bested whole Ork armies, and even given the ancient Eldar a run for their money. But he
had been fortunate enough to avoid any of the Warpspawn so far. Scouts sent into the forest hadnt returned, so it was obvious the enemy was waiting there. Instead of waiting for their charge however, they
decided to use the artillery to flush them out. Valorum watched with grim satisfaction as the forest was lit aflame, and parts of it were blasted apart
altogether. Another few volleys would probrably kill whatever remained in hiding, and the Guardsmen's work would be that much easier. But even as
the first of the earthshaker rounds flew overhead, Valorum saw an ocean of black-clad warriors run headlong out of the canopy. And he realized what he
was truely up against.
When he looked through his binoculars he could see them clearly. These were no mere heretics, they were Space Marines. Their black armor
was trimmed in gold and silver, and the commisar somehow found the attackers..beautifull. Many had immaculate faces, looking just like a space marine
should. But Valorum realized something was wrong...they looked too perfect. Then he noticed among them those who did not look so prestine. Their
faces pierced by hooks and barbs, their eyes a solid black, and many had a speaker in place of a mouth, which reminded Valorum of his vox-caster he had
at his side. Then a chill went down his spine. These were the fabled Noise Marines...
"Fire now! FIRE EVERYTHING WE HAVE!" He screamed into the Vox. He knew if the marines got into range their fabled Sonic weaponry would soon live up to the legends. Many of his soldiers lifted their guns to fire, and found themselves lowering them again. They were entranced by a new arrival. Between the oncomming marines and their entrenched postion, whole groups of women appeared. Naked and Pale in the sun, they ran swiftly to the gunners who could only stare in awe at their bodies. And by the time they actually noticed the long scything talons on the women's arms, it was too late. The daemons cut a bloody swathe into the main ranks of the guard, and killed at least a hundred before the others wised up and let the lasbolts fly from their own guns. The daemonettes fell, but being creatures of the warp they werent killed. Merely unsummoned.
Valorum's heart soared knowing they had defeated the foul creatures in the emperor's name...and then he remembered the noise marines.
A cacophony of sound blasted into their ranks, and every soldier dropped their guns and clutched their ears in response. It was like a thousand nails being dragged across a chalkboard, or a million voices crying out in pain. Many were bleeding from the sound and others screaming as if their head were about to burst, but this was only the Marine's first weapon. The Commisar looked up after recovering and saw the marines all lift their weapons with looks of sick glee on their faces, and shouted desperately once more into his vox. But over the din no one could hear his warning. Even higher pitched sounds pierced the screaming torment all around them, but with more direct effects. People burst into a rain of gore around their fellow troopers, other's had limbs blasted off of their bodies. There were even enormous dreadnaughts, with gigantic speakers on
their shoulders, that blasted a tidal wave of destruction at the assembled tanks, flipping them over and sometimes destroying them outright. The commisar
had to run back to the command post and warn HQ of the threat here, so he stumbled back along the trenches. Still hearing the wailing of his men
and the screeching weapons.
He made it back and opened the comm link, but even that was being flooded by the daemons. Instead of High Command he was greeted with
giggles and screeches that must have emanted from the warp. His heart fell and he realized that there was nothing he could do. Except of course activate
the MeltaBombs uner the base, and make sure none of the damned heretics survived. He inserted his key and opened the glass case that concealed the
button. "Emperor be praised..." he said before he pressed the button. But his hand wavered, and a chuckle was heard behind him.
"I think not, puppet of the corpse emperor." Came a fluid voice behind him. Valorum was terrified, but found himself compelled to turn and
see who was there. Standing as tall as any Space Marine (Perhaps even larger) was the Chaos Lord of these marines. The unholy runes and fiendish skull
trophies that littered his power armor told of his rank, and his was even more inlaid with gold and precious metals than his bretheren. "As enjoyable as it
would be to hear those bombs go off, and to feel fiery death before being united with our master Slaanesh, we just cant have that right now. Not when
theres so much to do." Every word sounded...beautifull. Valorum stepped forward in a trance. This being, this heretic, exuded such charisma. The Lord
removed his spiked helemt, revealing a pale face and short cropped hair, and smiled. "Come commisar, I wish to show you something." Valorum nodded
dumbly and followed in his wake.
Outside, the Marines were tearing into what few Guard remained. Many sat amongst the screaming and dying, torturing and maiming with
supreme satisfaction. Valorum didnt know what purpose the needles they drove into the guardsmen's bodies served, but from the hedonistic glee shown
on the noise marines faces, it must have been wonderfull.
"They are pleased, for now Commisar. But your resistance hasnt brought us much pleasure." The lord said, almost dissaprovingly. Like he was lecturing a youth in an academy. "It takes so much more to hold our interest. The drugs we harvest from you will only last so long...and then it will be quiet again. Without the roar of battle and the screams of the dying...we feel incomplete." The Commisar somehow felt a pang of sadness. "But this is only the first battle. Oh we will have our pleasure, we will wallow in it. And once this planet is claimed in The Keepr of Secrets name, we will move on and find more...entertainment." He then turned to face Velorum directly. "Do you see them Commisar? Do you see the joy on their faces? Has your, 'emperor' ever brought you this kind of happyness? Has he ever actually given you ANYTHING? Slaanesh offers your more...Slaanesh offers your
whatever you desire." Another smile. "Power? Women? Money? It can ALL be yours! What say you?" The commisar was about to say yes when he
snapped out of the trance and glared at the abomination in front of him.
"Go find some other pawn Heretic...Im a servant of the emperor." And he spit on the chestplate of his seducer. The smile never wavered though.
"No matter. You can always serve in other ways." There was a sharp pain in Valorum's gut, and it was followed by only more and more pain. In spite of himself he screamed in agony. The poison (Or whatever it was) felt like nothing he had ever experienced. He felt as though every pain imaginable flowed through his veins, while at the same time an unkown pleasure crawled over his body. This lasted for several agonising minutes before finally, Commisar Valorum of the Cadian 23rd, was dead.
The Lord looked down at the needle he had injected the fool with. And didnt hesitate to inject himself. He smiled harder and harder as the commisar's last moments were transered to him. The drug fed off of the pain of others, and like his minions the lord craved it.
After many hours of revelling among the dying and the dead, the noise marines solemnly picked up their torture tools and blasphemous weapons and moved on with the Lord at their head, riding the back of a Rhino. Its bass speakers let out a low beat that kept the army marching in line.
And the lord smirked under his helmet.
"For the Emperor." He whispered.
