So I'm 18 now.
Still no pictures of any of the characters. Starting to frustrate me.
The Dante history is all written out in my notebook. Segment's will be entered as I get around to typing :>
Enjoy this one!
Hunger. The only thing the slim wolf knew was hunger. The longer the winter drug on the harder it was becoming to find any living creature. The last few days he hadn’t seen, smelt nor even saw day old footprints of a rabbit. Only recently had he truly begun to regret his defiance of Cays wishes. He felt truly alone and scared for the first time in his life.
“I could be in the caves, pestering Cay and getting into arguments with…” A scent interrupted his thoughts. Raising his ears he turned to face the wind, straining and hoping. He heard a growl. Not stopping to think he dashed off into the wind as fast as his weary legs could move. The distant sound of barks and growls started to form into separate sounds.
…”And I would never allow you to touch me!” Maia!
Dante forgot his hunger at the sound of Maia’s voice. He pieced together what was happening by the anger in her voice. A new sound now, a fight. He could faintly hear a deep growl, one he didn’t realize was coming from himself at the thought of someone attacking Maia.
“Get away from me!” Two distinct forms took shape amidst the trees. A brightly colored lycan lay in the snow, dark blood stained her fur.
Dante’s eyes narrowed on the male, rage started to grip him. Verx had pushed the limits now.
Verx prepared to pin Maia, for what purposes Dante could only guess. He reared up, but never leapt. Out of the corner of his eyes he caught the site of a dark shape and only managed to turn his head to see Dante. The force of the stronger lycan slamming into the stunned male sent him rolling through the snow, kicking up a mini snowstorm in his wake. Dante stood where Verx once stood, growling deeply and flexing his claws. No warnings came, Dante lunged at the fallen Verx.
Verx snapped at Dante’s throat in fear but instead of flesh he felt four sharp claws gouge into his face. None had seen Dante this enraged. “Dante!” Maia’s voice seemed distant as if spoken somewhere else. Verx tried to get some distance from the angry lycan but Dante pressed forward, the amount of small scratches starting to add up on Verx’s body. Dante snapped viciously at Verx who only managed to stumble out to the side.
“Dante! Stop!” The distant voice now sounded closer, but it’s familiarity didn’t reach Dante, nor did it slow him down. Verx tried another lunge at his throat but was stopped short, first a deep gouge revealing bone and sinew was torn into Verx’s side and then a clawed hand wrapped tightly around his throat. Finding himself flat on his back, buried in snow, he looked up with the first true feeling of fear in his life. Dante was standing over him, teeth bared, readying to go in for the kill.
“Dante! STOP!”
Dante blinked, the rest of the world returned as if from a red blur. Releasing his tight grip on Verx’s throat, who gasped for breath, he stepped away from the battered and bloody Verx. Verx growled threateningly at Dante who, in return, took a step closer returning the threat. Fearing a second, unstoppable attack Verx turned and returned to the cave.
Dante’s glare on the retreating Verx was distracted by the heavy panting of Maia, tired from her brief fight and injuries. Anger again started to return once he noticed the cut on her face.
“Don’t yell at me!” Dante had been ready to do just that when she cut him off. Dante’s piercing gaze softened none at the pain, or strength, she showed. He took a slow step back and looked over Maia, her snow covered body, he thought he felt more than just respect for the young female, a thought he quickly dismissed. Drawing his gaze lower to her leg, he covered his worry of her injury with a deep growl. Dante then did the only thing he knew how to in a situation like this, he stepped up to her, bent down and began to clean the wound with his tongue. Maia quickly pulled her foot back in shock. “Dante… you don’t have-“
“Just sit down.” Dante cut her off sharply, a manner in which said he didn’t want to argue. Nervously and slowly she sat down. Dante took special care in cleaning the wound from a possible infection and then the surrounding fur from the blood that attempted to stain the pure white. Finally, after what seemed like long awkward hours to Maia, he leaned back and pressed snow against the wound, hoping it may help stop the bleeding.
Suppressing a nervous sigh, he leaned forwards and licked the shallow cut on the side of her face, pausing as she flinched slightly and then returning to the cut. He couldn’t help but think of her well-being. The cut on the face wasn’t as serious, so it didn’t take anywhere near the time to clean. He noticed she hadn’t attempted to pull away at being so close to him. “It won’t leave a scar…” his voice was low as if speaking to someone else.
“Thank you Dante.” He looked at her angrily. He could see her fumbling for words in an effort to say more before he yelled at her again. He hid from her, or himself, the fact that he didn’t want to yell. He wanted to embrace her for she was ok. It had finally begun to set into Dante’s mind despite his refusals that what he felt for her was… love.
She tried to sound happy despite the tense mood, to her, he looked like he was still ready to kill. “Everyone will be so happy to see you have returned. Cay has been beating himself up ever since-“
“Why were you alone again?” His low tone hadn’t changed, nor had his gaze despite his feelings.
Her ears pinned back, she felt as if he was attacking her strength again. “I wanted to be alone for a moment to think,” she spoke defiantly.
“You shouldn’t be-“
Maia let her anger take her, she cut him off now with a loud bark. “I am not weak!”
Dante’s ears snapped up. He had been so busy fighting his feelings he only now realized what he had just accomplished. By fighting off Verx he showed to any other male, intentionally or not, that he declared Maia as his. If he had killed Verx that would’ve sent a message to all that he already considered them mates. He took a few shocked steps back, eyes showing a twitch of fear.
“But you are…” He spoke in reference to her current condition, not thinking of how she’d hear it.
Maia dropped her gaze to the ground at the obvious insult. Raising her head again, he voice slowly growing from an angered growl to furious barks as she yelled at him. “It’s nice to see you are back and thank for helping and I am very grateful, but if I am such a bother to you and so much trouble that you must insult me, then please! STOP!”
Dante watched her turn and limp away. He was left stunned at her reaction. He watched Maia embrace her mother, barely heard his name called out by her upon recognition. He watched Xen come out of the darkness then turn and storm after Verx and the family lead the hurt Maia back inside.
Dante sat in the snow, confused and alone until a dark shape stepped out of the caves. Dante looked up from the snow at the dark furred one to visit him. He saw a new addition to Cay’s disguises of his true personality: a jagged scar running almost the length of Cays leg. Dante was cut off before he could speak, his brothers voice did not betray his personality, it was gentle and caring.
“Shh. I know how you’re feeling. Let’s get you fed and warmed up, we’ll talk after.”
