Alright Folks, a certain female told me I should add the poem back in to this, the reasons for which I will discuss later. However, I decided to put HER to the challenge of making the poem this week. GD, I give you your very own Dizzy_Kitten's work.
Today, my friends, it’s not the same, As Kitten’s on the pen. This time the rhyme’s not on e-fame, But about the GD den.
It’s about how we’re a right crazed bunch, We’re prideful, sharp and cutting. But when it comes down to the crunch, We’re FAR better than nothing.
We’re not like the snobs of the ED, (Never listening to a point!) We’re not the raving mad CB, (Who’s topics just disappoint).
We have the best trolls in all the land; Topics bound to make you grin. But to counter that, our fearless mods, Banishing spam to the sin bin.
We have our Prommies, yes, I know, But of that too we can be proud. For what other forum has such an ego? A delightfully eccentric crowd.
And though we seem to love to raid The pit that is 4chan, For meme’s that really aren’t top grade, We’re still the GD gang.
So my parting words to you, my GD friends, Is don’t forget we’re family. An odd one, true; all blurred edges and ends Somewhat of a calamity.
So here’s to you, my lovely GD, The greatest on the net. I love you all, as you can see, So bishez… don’t forget.
~ Dizzy_Kitten
Now that I've gotten that out of the way I'll get to our normal three discussions. Since there wasn't much drama/supertrolling/new forum adding/etc. this week I decided to write about what I've seen in my observations of the GD. One such observation was brought to my attention last week. It was along the lines of "Because you use a mule to deliver somethng so intelligent I don't take it seriously." What? Why? Mule or main account, it would be the same either way. I'm not a troll, I don't break the rules of the GD in my posts, yet because my avatar is naked, it isn't taken seriously? Well that's kind of... odd. O.o But it was true. I've noticed other GDers not taking certain avatars seriously because of their nakedness, or newbish clothes even if they do have an intelligent opinion. In fact, if a "prommie" posted the same topic you guys would be eating that up.
This brings me to my next point. I've found myself on a few occasions skimming the "author" section of the main page to see if anyone I know has posted. If I don't see anything I look in the "latest post" section, as if it would be okay for me to post in the topic if someone I know has posted in it. I know it seems weird, but upon talking to a few of my friends I found that they sometimes do the same. I haven't figured out if it's because we expect certain people to attract a certain (Might I say... DRAMATIC) audience?
And on that note, an audience. We all attract audiences, it doesn't matter which of us it is. It's these different audiences that seem to bring us together as GDers. (I told you I'd get around to why the person requested the poem to be reinstated). We've been brought together on several occasions over several different issues, yet we always come divided on one issue: the prominents. We all know who the Prominents are, so I'll skip that. It just sort of got to me when she said "The weekly Week In Review poem is something that unites us all as GDers." I wasn't sure what to make of it. It does? I took out something that brought us together?
So, another friend of mine from the GD and I were talking the other day about the TRUE intellectuals in the GD that TRULY know what they're talking about (Like the Jesus of the GD, Zahir) and those who spout of knowledge like they know it, when they obviously don't. (Just for the record, when talkign about "subjects" as in "topics" it would NOT be wiser to replace it with "cohorts". It'll just make you look like a complete idiot, and you'll lose all of your dignity). We've all seen these "know it all" types that make a topic about something, yet decide against actually finding out what it is through research rather than here-say. In light of that, I thought I'd share with you guys part of the conversation this GDer and I had. She asked me not to use her name, so I will respect her wishes.
Female GD Week In Review Female I'm like a kid looking up to its kindergarden teacher ..lol omg it could be true GD = Kindergarden surprised xD;; <3 I only looked up to a few people when i was really a kid though xd GD can be a kndergarten sometimes. That's such a funny analogy. I really laughed. ..or maybe more like... 7th - 9th grade half the kids pretend to have sex, a few are actually doing it, everyone has greasy pizza faces, the girls show their tits, the guys play tough and everyone wants to seem like they know it all I mean come on thats GD right there lol
So, in closing: I hope you enjoyed the audio up there first of all. I hope you stay and share your opinion (It is important to me and I do try to respond to each and every one of your posts). I really love you guys GD. You've been well behaved and really made it challenging for me to write about this week. heart It seems even you guys can grow up sometimes.
WARNING: Quote: Flaming - If you see a misplaced thread, report it to a moderator. Posting "stfu n00b" or whatever does nothing to help get the thread moved to the right place. Flaming is against the Terms of Service, and can get you warned or banned. This applies to "STFU", "GTFO", "You fail" and all other such witty-but-abusive one-liners, particularly "kill yourself", "die plz" and similar tasteless quips. It's unwarranted, it's abusive, it'll get you banned.Spamming - We do not like your pointless spam, we do not like it Sam I Am. We do not think "bump for gold!!!!" rocks - that crap goes in the Chatterbox. Posts should contribute to the discussion at hand, or they are spam. [PLEASE NOTE: This includes "too long; didn't read" (aka "tl;dr" wink , "WALL OF TEXT!!!", and other such "that was too long for me to be bothered with reading" posts, which serve no purpose but to highlight your own deplorably short attention span. They are spam, and will get you warned or banned.]
I don't take kindly to either of these things. Don't think I'll report you? Think again. I reported enough spammers/flamers Monday night for three weeks of reporting. I don't like reporting you guys, but don't think I won't. Understand? Good.
DISCUSSIONS
As if they weren't clear, I have made a list of three different discussions from what I mentioned up there (as I do weekly). Please keep on topic. I'd hate to tell you to leave.
Do you take mule accounts seriously if they still deliver intelligence? Do you really take me as just a joke? What makes a thread creator "serious"? Do you skip over topics because of what the thread creator looks like?
Do you skim the author section of the GD? What about the "Latest post" section? Why do you go to posts of certain people? Do you expect certain drama from certain people?
What brings the GD together? Should the weekly poem be reinstated? Should the Weekly Revier be more hands-on (I've been thinking of adding some people to this project). Who would be good to help the Editor in his Week in Review? What's with these know-it-alls in the GD? Is intellect totally lost here? Have you ever listened to idiots who try to tell you how to write, when you know it's alright already?
ATTENTION: THIS POST IS ALWAYS EDITED WITHIN THE FIRST HALF HOUR, SO CHECK BACK TO GET THE FULL EFFECT.
wahmbulance GDer Spotlight; Promoting good behavior in the GD wahmbulance
The GD Spotlight is on a good friend of mine this week. Unfortunately, he's had his fair share of bad luck and will probably not appear in the GD again for a while. I thought this would be a perfect Aideu for him.
Q: Fiend, I've seen that you don't post int he GD as much anymore, why is that? A: New generation GDers have made a mockery of what i loved when i first joined: discussion. the topics come one after another and almost all of them revolve around maybe three things: sex (and related material), trolling, and LOL PROMMIES.
Q: So your opinion on Trolling, and the so called "Popularity" contest that seems to dwelling in the GD would be? A: Nothings changed since I joined except the amount of the stupidity that happens on a daily basis. It used to be, trolls came out at night, fine, and there'd be one or two namedrop/popularity threads a day on average, but now we're just over run by the idiocy and it makes me almost too disgusted to post.
Q: How long have you been posting in the GD? A: I've been posting GD since about 13 months ago, I'm newer than most think. It's been a lot less frequent over the last 6 or 7 months though, due to the things I mentioned earlier
Q: When you do post, how do you post? Some post by the face value of the thread, others post by the name of the author because they're friends or known. A: Well, for one I actually take the time to read the thread. It doesn't make much difference who posts it as long as the topic is something I'd actually care to talk about: this is assuming I'm not just linked for one reason or another, usually involving a friend being attacked or seeing something funny.
Q: What kind of threads tend to draw you attention?A: Well, they obviously need a title that grabs, but if I don't see any content in them that is worth my time, I'll move on. I tend to like religious debates, Because I don't have a religion, so it really leaves me objective. granted most would think that would make me a religion hater, but I've put in the time to research them and be able to pick out their pros and cons. Whatever makes people happy I guess, But I'm always up for arguing with fanatics.
Q:How many friends have you made from the GD? Are they worthy friends? A: I don't really know how many, they're not all on my friends list, and I talk to some more than others, but for the most part I think they're all very nice, trustworthy people and I'm glad to have met them all.
Q: You said you talk to some more than others, would it be anyone we GDers would know? A: Oh of course, I'm not really the most well known guy in GD publicly, But I know a hell of a lot of people. I don't think I'll be namedropping anyone, Because if people are really want to know, they can make an effort and look for themselves.
Q: So with the many labels that pass around the GD, What would you consider yourself? Prommie, Troll, Regular, Oldbie... etc. A: I don't particularly label myself with any of those things. I've been grouped and labeled most of them, but really, I'd just rather be labeled Fiend: leave it at that. The hierarchy pretty much means nothing to me, so it's not my priority to say I fit any of them or try to fit any of them.
Q: Do you/Have you post(ed) topics in the GD? What were they about? Do those things actually concern you? A: Oh, I've posted a good few topics in GD, the flow has stopped for the most part because people just respond to them in stupid one liners and leave things and they usually make it to page 2 and then die. I suppose I could try to fit the mould of current GD attention drawing topics, but I'd rather discuss something that's on my mind or has been happening in my life recently. I tend to think they're too intelligent for GD because of the short life spans, but at least I'm making the effort once in a while to try to clean the place up a bit.
Q: Are you familiar with the GD Week In Review? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Good, Bad, Ugly? A: Admittedly, I've only heard of it, never read it at all because I don't think I was ever even linked. It seems like a good idea, though THE INTERNET HERO. has something similar he does, I was interviewed for that too and his questions were...well they didn't have much structure to them, fun, but chaotic
Q: What would you say is the best aspect of the GD? Past and Present A: Well, I certainly don't like the present GD too much, it's improving a bit, but not enough to make me happy with it. I absolutely loved it when I joined in Jan. 06. There was pretty much the perfect balance of good discussion and jackassery for me, some serious stuff, but a pretty equal amount of kick back, relax and laugh stuff as well.
Q: Fiend, anything you would like to add to your own interview, comments, shout outs...etc? A: Well, there's not much to say that wouldn't involve name drops and an amount of flaming that'd most likely get me perma'd 90x over. but I think there are a couple things. to start, I'd like to say i appreciate being interviewed for this, It's always nice to know my opinion counts for something and to be able to express it. I'd like to say that I adore my friends, I love everyone of you dearly (some more than others, admittedly). and I'd like to say to the ingrates of GD, stop acting like the mods are useless, you have simply no reckoning of how much work they do around the site to keep it clean and enjoyable for all of us.
