Chapter two
(The Chosen Path)

Zaladin sat at Celia's bedside tapping his foot with slight anxiety. He looked at her soft white locks that gently swayed in front of her face as she gave a slight shake. Ever so softly he brushed the strands aside, continuing to look at her to see when her dark hazel eyes would open again. "I told you not to go." He murmured to himself. "If only you would've listened." Zaladin sighed. Celia winced slightly in her sleep then opened her eyes. "Zaladin..." Celia said weakly, with a small smile. Zaladin leaned forward and embraced her. Celia's eyes grew wide and slowly she began to blush, "Next time, I'll go with you." He said muffled with his face buried into her shoulder. Celia closed her eyes as he continued to hold her, but then snapped out of it. "Are you okay?" He asked leaning back in the chair. Celia thought about the question. Was it a dream? No it couldn't have been. She thought pressing her hand to her forehead. Thinking hard on the question as she closed her eyes Valiant Thorns came to her mind. "A headache?" He asked her. Celia looked over to him then took her hand from her head and shook. "No, no headache." She said looking forward, "I'm okay." Zaladin nodded, "I'm glad to hear." Celia's theme sounded in the background. "Are you hungry?" He asked. Celia shook her head. A twist came to her gut and a low groan grumbled. Celia blushed lightly, embarrassed by her gut. Zaladin chuckled "I'll take that as a yes." Standing up, he walked out of her room and down the orange narrow hallway to the kitchen. He gestured his hands and a pot levitated out of the cabinet. It floated to the counter and set itself down. Another cabinet opened and a pack of angel hair pasta straws came floating out. It tore the top of the the plastic wrapping off it itself and poured into the pot. The plastic wrapping flew to the garbage and the pot flew under the faucet. Zaladin flicked his wrist and the faucet turned on. Cold water rushed out in a stream line filled the pot only halfway. The pot flew to the stove. Setting itself on the bottom right panel the dial turned to one hundred and fifty degrees. The blue flames flew from the bottom of the pot, but became tamed within seconds. A small hiss formed after the flames tamed. Zaladin took a seat on a wooden stool. He looked over to another cabinet where a jar of pasta sauce came out along with a wooden spoon.

The wooden spoon began to stir the pasta straws in a clockwise direction. The jar of pasta sauce sat on the counter and Zaladin crossed his arms. Celia walked down the hallway trying to recall all of what had happened while she was asleep? "It all happened so fast." She said gently as she rubbed her arm and sat on the plush couch. The Station of Serenity came to her mind. "This is your destiny." The words rang in her mind. Celia's eyes lowered to her knees. Her straight white locks fell over her face as she lowered her head. "I'm chosen." She murmured to herself. "I have to save the worlds and stop the darkness from stealing hearts." Her heart sank. She whipped her strands behind her ear and she rose her head. "How am I going to do that?" She asked, feeling already overwhelmed by the task. Although this feeling came to her, she would try, for if that "dream" was real then she'd have the courage to fight. Zaladin stood and saw that the pasta was ready for sauce. The pot levitated off of the fire and sailed through the air to the sink. The boiling water was poured out without a single noodle falling out. He set the pasta down and the jar opened itself. It poured itself in and the wooden spoon began stirring. How was she to save the worlds? How was she going to stop an endless source of darkness? Celia pondered these questions and slowly she began to grow less hopeful. Zaladin fixed two plates as the pasta was complete. With two steaming plates in his hands he walked over to the couch that Celia sat on. He took a seat next to her and looked over. She seemed troubled by something, "Something on your mind?" He asked. Celia looked up to him and shook her head, "No, nothing." She said looking at the plate. "It looks good." Zaladin nodded, "Your favorite, angel hair pasta." She nodded and grasped the plate as he handed it to her. A fork stood at a slant inside the pasta and she took it out and began eating.

She slurped up the thin pasta noodles and smiled with satisfaction, "Its good." She said softly. Zaladin nodded in thanks to her compliment, sipping three noodles that hung from his mouth. She wondered what would happen if she told Zaladin what had gone on in her sleep. She decided against telling him, for now. As they ate in silence a shriek broke through from outside. Both Celia and Zaladin set their plates down and rushed to the door. Zaladin got there first and twisted the knob and pulled the door open. He looked outside and fixed his eyes on the lady. She was surrounded by shadow heartless. Celia stood beside him and gasped. "Heartless." She whispered. Night of Fate began to play within the background. Zaladin took out his Pale Moon staff and rushed out the door and to the aid of the helpless citizen. He aimed his staff forward, "Fire" He demanded from his staff. The orb upon his staff began to engulf with flames and shot off. A the ball of fire flew to one of the heartless and it popped on impact. Zaladin saw three more, as they turned around from the lady, who stood petrified. Their yellow orbs fixed on him, as they seeped into the ground. Zaladin grunted. "Damn creatures." He said under his breath looking around to where they went. One slid from under the ground, behind Zaladin. Celia quickly caught onto the creature who threw it's claw to his back. She gasped. "Zaladin behind you!" She cried out. Without a look to the heartless, Zaladin slammed the butt of his staff onto the ground and he called out, "Reflect!" A light shield formed around him and the creature's claw bounced off of him and a beam of light shot through the heartless, sending it flying away. It crashed into a wall and popped. Black inky powder came from it, which quickly dissipated. The other two rose from the ground and Zaladin aimed his staff diagonally into the air, "Thunder!" He called out. A flash of light came from the sky and yellow bolts came down within a split second. They shocked the two creatures and they popped on impact.

Night of fate slowly came to a close as the creatures were destroyed. "Pesky creatures." Zaladin said as he walked over to the lady, who still stood motionless. "Alright lady?" He asked her. She continued to stand there without an expression on her face. "Hey..." He said waving a hand in front of her face. She didn't look to it. The lady warped away in darkness as clapping came. Zaladin hopped back with his staff ready. Celia turned her head to the black robed being up on the room. "Zaladin!" She said as she pointed. A character in a black robe stood atop a building, applauding Zaladin's work. Their head was hooded and face unseen for the darkness the hood had showered it with. Zaladin grunted, "Organization XIII." He said looking up to the building. Celia looked to the Organization member. "I must say, you really know how to take care of yourself." The Organization member said with a genuinely laid back tone. "Its really going to be fun watching you die." He said, as he looked over to Celia. "You too girlie." Zaladin didn't feel intimidated one bit, though Celia on the other hand shook with fear. Never had she been threatened in such a way before. Zaladin grew angry toward this Organization member. "Come down and fight!" He barked at the black robed being who only laughed at his anger. "You wouldn't be much of a challenge, so..." He rose his hand in front of him and five soldier heartless aligned in front of him. Night of Fate began once again. "Lets see how long you'll last." He said with a smirk under the darkness of his hood.

Zaladin looked at the yellow eyes creatures in front of him. He'd never seen these types before, but that wasn't going to stop him. Zaladin pointed his staff diagonally in the air and called forth, "Thunder!" Two of the five where struck as a flash of lightning came down upon their head, sending them into an electric frenzy.
