THE NEXT RIRE CHAPTER IS HEAR!

“Well, John, I have to say that the citizens of Hedone are appalled by the events that took place earlier today at the boys’ boarding school Hedone High where the headmaster Lu Rire was brutally murdered.”
“…the police report that they have the killer in custody and that they believe that it is a long sought after drug lord that has previously escaped police custody several times…”
“The officials refuse to release the identity of the killer, offering only the ambiguous name ‘Redback’…”
“…John! Just in, the Hedone PD says that Redback is loose; he escaped last night, severely injuring one of the guards on-duty and stealing one of the police cars in the lot. The police are advising all citizens to remain wary of any cop cars and to not allow any ‘off-duty’ officers into their homes…”
“The supposedly stolen PD vehicle turned up in the Ouran river this morning, with no sigh of Redback…”

A.E.D turned off the TV and set the remote down on the coffee table. As he lay back against the couch he wondered if he’d see him again. It’d been a week since he’d been released from the hospital. He didn’t really remember slitting his wrists; he didn’t really remember much of anything except that when he had woken up that morning he had hurt…a lot. He’d told Izm about Rire and Izm had left.

The next thing he knew he was lying in a hospital bed and Izm was sitting next to him looking like s**t warmed over. He’d leaned over him, his eyes glossy and dark circles sagging beneath them, and kissed him. A.E.D. tried to kiss back but couldn’t. He couldn’t make himself move. When Izm pulled away he climbed onto the bed and lay next to him, pleading with him to never do it again, to never scare him like that again. ‘Okay’, .D had said, not capable of forming any other words. Those few days following he’d been sent to the psychiatrist, put in the observation ward with occasional visits from Izm.

Then he’d been released with an anti-depressant prescription, the ugliest scars imaginable on his wrists, and an appointment to meet with a therapist every Thursday for the foreseeable future. Izm hadn’t said goodbye. He’d woken up next to him, just like it was any other day. He’d kissed A.E.D. deeply, as if he could disappear any minute, even though .D didn’t respond, and then he took a shower. He got dressed, grabbed his effects (his switch-blade, a wad of cash, etc.), and left the room.

It was a few hours later that A.E.D. heard about it, of course. He seldom left his room, or his bed, seeing as the psychiatrist had given him an additional week off from classes after he’d been released. Marcus had pounded relentlessly on the door, forcing A.E.D. to get out of bed and answer it. There the lower-classmen had been, his eyes wide on his face as he said, ‘Rire’s…dead…’ And that was that. Everything else he heard about the whole affair had been from the news, and frankly he was sick of the news.

The headmaster’s office had been spotless but for the desk, the carpet beneath it in front of the swivel chair Rire was so fond of. Blood coated that small area, they say the man’s throat had been slit, they’d found him with his face resting on the desktop, his arms hanging limply at his sides while his neck poured his life onto the expensive carpet. They were still in the process of finding a new headmaster and for the time being the deputy headmistress was assuming his position.

At first, A.E.D. had been furious, how dare Izm do something like this? How was it his right to kill Rire? He was .D’s problem, his…his…person. There wasn’t a word that .D could find that he thought described the man properly, or rather, none that he allowed his mind to choose. And now he was dead and Izm was nowhere to be found, wanted for murder and where was .D? He was in their room, all alone, with nothing but the furniture and clothes that Izm had left behind.

It was edging on three in the morning when the door to his room opened. A.E.D. snapped out of his lazy posture, sitting up straight as the stranger fully entered his room. His eyes were blue, and his hair cropped into a bleached blonde buzz-cut, and he wore black skinny jeans and a baggy black zip-up hoody. He was carrying a large black duffle bag over his shoulder, with all of the black he was wearing his hair stood out like a lightbulb. .D simply stared, wondering if maybe he was seeing things, the face was familiar. But how did this guy get a key to his room…he hadn’t heard the lock break.

“.D, I know I look pretty fugly with this hair but you don’t have to put on your traumatized face like that,” the guy said, his voice oddly rough, and new to his ears.

“Who are you?”

“Oh damn, I forgot to turn the stupid voice changer off,” Izm mumbled, his voice becoming recognizable halfway through his sentence. He’d reached into the collar of his hoody and fiddled with a spiked collar he was wearing.

“…what are you doing here, you idiot?!” .D growled, fighting the euphoric relief down in favor of the righteous indignation he was feeling a few days ago.

“Hey, keep it quiet, okay, you and Wei Ren are the only ones who know I’m even alive, I’d like to keep it that way…”

His mouth snapped shut, but he stood up and walked away from him, moving over to the dresser and picking up the black bag sitting on the floor next to it. He turned around to throw it at him but was pulled into a bone-creaking hug before he got the chance. Izm nuzzled at his neck, as if he’d just gotten home from an abnormally long trip to the underground, as if he wasn’t in the deepest s**t he’d ever been in, as if he could stay.

A.E.D. grumbled, arms wrapped reluctantly around Izm’s waist, “Idiot, why’d you have to go and ******** everything up, huh?”

“I couldn’t let him hurt you anymore, .D, I just couldn’t-”

“So you killed the headmaster of a well respected high school in the hopes that we could live happy ever after?! Izm that doesn’t, that’s not how it works!” Izm was tensing in his arms and starting to pull away but .D wouldn’t let him go.

“Don’t you think I know that now?!” Izm retorted, “I know that I screwed up, but he deserved what he got and I don’t regret it, the only thing I regret is not having done it sooner, for having let him hurt you for so long…”

Izm’s face drew away from his shoulder, his nose and lips pressing against .D’s cheek, sliding slowly across his skin. He kissed him, quick and short but he stayed close, his breath ghosting over his lips. A.E.D.’s grip on him didn’t lessen, though he felt slightly nauseous, and his face felt so warm he was sure that he was radiating heat. Izm moved forward just barely, their mouths touching, and he mumbled ‘kiss me, at least once before I go.’

“I-I can’t, Izm, I can’t-” he was frozen, the feeling of Izm’s lips on his, not pressing closer, not kissing him, just talking…it was making him shiver. The sensation growing in his stomach only reminded him of how much Rire had made him feel that night, and he didn’t want to think of him, he wanted to think of Izm, he did. How could they both make him feel the same…they meant completely different things…and yet, he’d only felt this strongly when Rire had…

“’s ok, .D, ‘s ok, I’m not him, I’m not him,” Izm whispered.

.D screwed his eyes shut, his breaths coming out as tense shudders, Izm telling him the same thing, it was okay, and he knew it was and…

He moved, he unfroze, and he kissed him. A.E.D. felt the strangled noise caught in Izm’s mouth as their tongues touched, and he smiled. Izm’s hands wove themselves into .D’s hair, and the prefect shuffled them around, pressing Izm’s back against the dresser. A.E.D. pulled away to try and regain his breath, his hands pulling out from where they were squished between Izm’s back and the dresser drawers. He panted as he tugged the zipper on the hoody down, eventually shoving it off and instead yanking on Izm’s shirt, practically wrestling it off of him. The idiot didn’t make it easier for him. When he tried to remove his own shirt, thinking only of feeling Izm’s skin on his, and how much he was looking forward to kissing him again Izm stopped him.

“What are…you doing…?” .D growled, still trying to pull his shirt up over his head.

“.D, we don’t have to, I mean…I don’t know if-”

“Just shut up, I’m going to have sex with my boyfriend, and I don’t care what you have to say, and if you try to use this against me tomorrow, I swear to god, Izm-”

Izm smirked, “I won’t, how crazy do you think I am, anyways?”

A.E.D. finally succeeded in getting his shirt off, and he yanked Izm towards him, kissing the smirk off his face. He walked them awkwardly over to the bed and crawled on top of Izm, moving him farther up on the bed.

When .D broke the kiss to put his lips to work elsewhere, namely to work on a hicky Izm swore at him. He laughed, muttering against the other’s skin, ‘crazy b*****d.’

Izm hissed, but tried to not make too much noise as he pulled his pants on. His a** hurt a lot more now that he didn’t have a mind numbing orgasm tearing through him, and he wasn’t looking forward to walking that day. He’d packed the clothes from the trash bag on the floor into the duffle bag he’d brought with him already, figuring it would be easier to do that first. Now, he pulled on his shoes, laughing as he remembered A.E.D. telling him that he was no way in hell taking them and his ‘stupid jeans’ all the way off before they ‘********’. Later of course they’d been peeled off and thrown to the floor, forgotten as they passed out.

His hand dipped into his jeans pocket and felt the gift he’d brought with him. Izm hadn’t thought he’d get more than a kiss out of A.E.D., and thusly hadn’t expected to be spending the night. Now it was nearing ten in the morning and plenty of students would be out to see him. He hoped his change in appearance would be enough to get him off the campus without too much trouble.

Izm padded over to the bed where .D lay tangled in the sheets. He smiled as he pulled the dog-tag and silver chain out of his pocket and gently looped it around the sleeping boy’s neck. It had the words ‘Property of Redback’ engraved on the front, and his rule on the back. He kissed the ruffled hair and gave one of the infamous fangs a tug.

“’Love you, b*****d,” he grumbled.

Switching on the voice changer and shrugging up his hoody, Izm grabbed his duffle bag and left, making sure to set his old keycard on the coffee table. He wouldn’t need it anymore.
