The fall leaves
swirl away,
leaving
barren
tree branches
in their midst.
the frosty cold
bites at open skin,
creeping through
scarves
and little girl
mittens
the smell of peppermint
wafts in,
a constant reminder
of holiday cheer
and
anticipation
too cold for
sports,
families cuddle
together
by the warmth
in front of the fire
hoping
for a miracle,
noses pressed against
windows,
children hope
for a white christmas
smiling,
laughing,
enjoying,
not a sorrowful
thought in the world,
winter has come
