Darkness rains, flooding the city
The stars come out of hiding
Snow begins to blanket rooftops and sidewalks
Jingle Bells ring through the streets
sounds of carols and fires cracking
drift through the alleys and roadways
people gather, laughing and chatting
friends and families join together,
as the turkey is carved and eggnog is passed around
gifts are exchanged and excitedly ripped open
lovers kiss under the mistletoe while
children stand with mouths wide open, hoping to taste the snow
then when all food is eaten, and eggnog is drank,
when fires die down and the first yawn is let out
parents carry their children up to their beds
so they can sleep and await the arrival of santa claus
hooves are on the roofs, then away goes the sleigh
the moon begins to fall, and the sun is welcomed
it is finally Christmas Day
