Guilt clings to your soul like a child their mother
Ripping, biting, shouting
Crying out until it’s the only thing you can hear.
The hurt will n** at you until you can no longer stand it
Until you want to run and hide
Still, guilt will find you
It always does
It always will
And yet you continue to run on and on
You run until you collapse
There, beside you, guilt will remain
Unaffected
Quietly stabbing, jabbing at your conscious
Confrontation becomes the only means of escape
And then, relief comes to you with quiet steps
It embraces you, soothing your battered soul
Guilt disappears into a dark corner of your mind
Waiting for the chance to come out
For the chance to cling and bite; to cry and chase
Merely to be abandoned again in the end.
