- Wrong. The 'Latins'(its the Romans) did not have a god called Hephaestus. That was the Greeks, and he was the god of the forge, not fire. The Roman version of him was Vulcan, pyro is a shortened word for pyromaniac, which I'm sure you know of. 1/5
