- There are many different ways of calling her by her name. Bastet, Bast, Baste etc. What's interesting about cats in Egypt is that when they die, there's a huge funeral for them and the family who had lost their cat goes into mourning by shaving their brows. It's been a while since I looked up some Ancient Egyptian mythology/history, so it might be a little bias.
