Born in 1431, Prince Vlad III was a ruthless figure in history. After a messy line of assassinations by Ottoman forces, Vlad III took the throne of Wallachia and started a bloody campaign against the Ottoman Empire.
There is a legend that Prince Vlad impaled his victims on pikes in a gruesome manner, and then sopped up their blood with bread like soup. For this, he was named Vlad Țepeș (meaning "the Impaler"). Another name he was known by was Vlad Dracula, after his father's title of Dracul. - Date: 05/07/2011

- The "devil" or the"dragon" ? Both have been attributed to his name. To this day, Romania views Prince Vlad as a hero of the people for the time he was able to reclaim and protect the land from invasion by the Ottomans.
