Holden Caulfield is the anti-hero from J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye. His most common trademarks are his red hunting cap and grey hair; and he is usually seen smoking cigarettes.
“…I keep picturing all these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye…And I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff…to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff…I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all” (173).
