...a story helps too. Some avatars express something,and you need to explain it in the desc. in order to make people understand,and it gives a better air to it,and a touch of creativity sometimes. neutral

Your right about the description thing but having one does increase your chances at a better score.
Same goes for a title,but either way its an ok avatar.
