  • Artist Info: I walked slowly down the road while trees stood high above me. The sky had turned gray with an endles blanket of clouds that travel in a giant pack. Rain lightly trickled onto my brown jacket that i had thrown on and the cool air could be felt through the ripped designs all over the front of my pants. I had three dollars; one of the dollars were quarters. Car avoided me even though I moved to the side. Puddles tempted me to jump into them with my black golashes(sp?), and I did. I walked along the railroad tracks and crossed the small field. Traffic was seen no where and few cars drove on into town. I crossed when the street was empty and hopped into puddles that littered the parking area of Save-A-Lot. There wasn't anyone at the soda machines and I sighed a breath of relieve. Sticking a dollar and a quarter into the machine i pressed the lit up button that said Sprite and I repeated the process except I had press Coca-Cola for my father that was waiting for me at home.<br />
A car drove up to me and asked if i knew about something, I couldn't understand what he had asked me so i politly turned him away. I waited for two cars to pass and i hurried back to the other side. Retracing my steps i made it back across the field. As I walked down the dim lited street . I stopped a couple of times and listened, listened to the dripping of the water. The soft rain had stopped and my neighborhood had quieted down(not that it was loud in the first place). I stopped for the third time and crotched down, looking at the opening underneath the tracks. It was probably an opening for water but I let my imagination run wild. I imagined that maybe there was a magical world on the other side, waiting for me to join them; and for a moment I actually believed it. I felt like going down there and splash through the ankle deep water and make my way through the tiny tunnel. But I stopped myself from making my way down there. I got back up and started walking again. Clutching the sodas tightly, I knew I was already regreting not taking a chance and going down there. It had been a potental(sp?) portal that could have led to a magical world, were mystical creature ran around, free of troubles. And the adventures I would have had. But I knew, nothing like that could exist, and nothing like that would ever happen to me. To many fantasy books had been read, and to many high expectations and hope, crused.
