The main character, Katie Minami (Kaede Minami in the Japanese versions), is a cheerful and energetic eighth grader. Katie is shy around her male classmates, so it is difficult for her to date.<br />

One day, on her way home from school, Katie walks into a mysterious shop and buys a blue cocoa mug. When she arrives at home, she casually peeks into the bottom of the mug and discovers an engraved note which says, "If you read this message aloud while pouring hot cocoa into the mug, a love fairy ("muglox"
wink will appear and grant your every wish." The skeptical but curious Katie follows the directions and announces her wish to date Dylan Yuki (Setsu Yuuki in the Japanese versions), the class heartthrob. A love fairy named Mirmo (Mirumo) appears. At first she was afraid of him but later understood that he was a muglox. Katie soon finds out that Mirmo prefers eating chocolate and creating mischief over helping Katie.<br />

Mirmo, it seems, is prince of the muglox world. Horrified at the prospect of having to marry Rima (Rirumu), his princess bride-to-be, Mirmo has escaped the muglox world. Hot on his heels, however, are Rima, Yatch (Yashichi) the bounty hunter, Murumo (mirmo's brother), and a cast of hundreds of muglox ranging from good to bad to nutty. The muglox see to it that school life for Katie and her friends is never the same.<br />

A cheerful and energetic girl who has a huge crush on Dylan and is Mirumo's partner. Although she's very sweet and helpful, she can get angry when she is tempted with. She is Azumi's rival and are fighting over who should be with Yuki. Her results are not very good and she is a bit slow and clumsy.During season one of the anime, she attended school with Mirmo in his realm, but she is very different in her fairy form compared to the normal citizens of the Fairy World and with fairy wings (in Mirmo's world, they use fans as wings), pink fairy outfit that you would usually see on a doll, and her instrument (a microphone, it was destroyed at the end of the first season while she was trying to save Muglox world) she might make some references to the magical girl genre name. In episode 142,she almost died as a shinigami stole her soul for Mirmo's chocolates. At the season finale of Mirmo de pon, Katie struggles to fight for Dylan's love. Unfortunately, Dylan made a decision that broke her heart. That was when Dylan chose to be with Haruka Morishita. Katie decided to give up her chance of being with Dylan but not her feelings for him. Later on, when Dylan realizes that Katie is the one he really loves, he decided to confess his feelings to her. In the last episode of the Season Finale, she loses Mirmo in replacement for her wish to come true. then finds out that Mirmo never made to the Muglox World and received an extreme punishment. she then tries her best to bring back Mirmo's memories of him being a Muglox. At the end, she gets Mirmo back and they're together again. In the manga,after she and Dylan became a couple,another tomboy rival named Ryo Sanada appears.<br />
