• Rain falls, washing away the day
    People rush inside, leaving I alone to stay.
    With my thoughts to the sky,
    I watch as the birds fly.
    Undaunted by the rain, with no fear, and no pain
    Alive in a world unknown to our race;
    They move with ease and grace, by no means in haste.
    Cares to the winds, they fly
    While the sky weeps rain upon them in a silent cry
    But the heavens do not mourn the passing of the birds,
    Instead they weep to bring a light into the murk.
    With the quiet water rushing every way,
    They wash away the sorrows of the day.
    And when the last of their tears have faded,
    The clouds break apart to the light of the sun's rays.
    With new thoughts in mind,
    I turn my eyes from the sky,
    Surprised to find, not alone, am I.
