For immortality I did not seek it
Because Immortality is overrated
For bloodlust I did not seek it
Because life I revere
For the night I did not seek it
Though only barely so
For beauty I did seek it
Because only death knows true beauty
So like a rose, a black rose, appreciated for its
Rare, dark, dangerous beauty, I chose to live my life
Striking with thorns to draw blood
In this seeking of deadly beauty
I got the things I was not searching for
And also the thing I was
Between death's and beauty's twin arms clasped
I was shown the beauty of the night
The blood
And immortality
But through those eyes
Beauty was only found in what was left behind

- I think it's a little ridiculous and generic. but good for a ridiculous, generic poem that probably half of the human race has seen about a billion times.
