The news is broken in your voice
It's so confident, so strong
Its unwavering, unbroken
You tell us this isn't your choice
You give a quick kiss on the head
And you walk away from us all
It seems so unreal to me,
Why can't you stay instead?
You smile when you go on the plane
While we cry our hearts out
And fail to smile once again
As we put your picture in a frame
Two long months later from that day
Two tall men come bearing grave news
They say words I never wanted to hear;
"I'm sorry, but he's passed away."
My father was my loving hero
He taught me so many things;
To have faith in the world,
But that faith has been knocked to zero
But I remember my love for you
And I'll try to believe,
And have faith again;
It's the least I could do for you.
