Reflections of the Soul
By Devin Kruljac Truessence
Reflections,
Of the mind,
Wander beside me.
I see myself, but it is yet another,
Someone who is not me,
Yet someone I know.
She’s playing the role,
Of the person I use to yearn for,
And her friend played the role of me.
I watch, and I see,
How Life has its own reflections,
Its own mirrors.
Often times we will walk into those mirrors,
And become the mirrors themselves,
And even before then, we were already in one.
I look in the mirror and I see me,
Look at the Mirrors of Life,
You merely see a reflection of yourself.
As if it were in wavering water,
Distorted, yet,
Still true to its form and nature.
Yet with each moment,
The reflection changes,
Just as we all do.
We see ourselves distorted,
Wavering at times,
And even then we’re still true to our own form and nature.
The Mirrors of Life,
Are simply the Reflections of the Soul,
Through the existence of every living thing.
We are who we are,
As we see ourselves to be,
By the reflections of others as they see us.

- Description: I wrote this poem in about 5 minutes. I don't know where it came from, but it's something I've always believed in but never was able to put it in words. After reading something from a friend (Kyra), it sounded like what was happening to her was a very clear reflection of what was happening to me in a way and then, boom, I had to write. So I did. It may seem confusing but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. ^_^

- Oh, first. ^_^ Anyway, it does make sense to me. I love the existentialism and the fact that you keep to three lines a stanza. Not bad at all for a poem written in five minutes.
