• Cheeks like petals,
    with tear drops like rain.
    Holding a coat,
    shivering from the pain.
    The coat is not her’s,
    but another’s not here.
Gone was he that stood beside her,
he who kept away the fear.
    The demon loneliness,
    and he’s partner-despair.
    Now these demons attack her,
    coming from out of nowhere.
    Her heart beats wrong,
    not fast or slow.
    Just beating strangely,
or at least she thinks so.
    Ever since he left,
    everything has gone wrong,
    She can’t sing,
    or even write a song.
Yet this is what people demand,
    a song from her soul.
But she can’t write one now,
    because she doesn’t feel whole.
    As she gets on stage,
    stares out into the crowd.
    She trembles and shakes,
    with her head slightly bowed.
    Playing one chord,
    she sings this.......
    He’s left me here,
    alone in this crowd.
    With my voice broken,
    and the people screaming loud.
    These demon’s before him,
    are now here to play.
    Everything is all wrong,
since he decided not to stay.

    Another chord played,
    a pause while she breaths.
    This song she is singing,
so far has brought them to their knees.....
    I love you so,
to the point that I cry.
    Why did you leave me,
    deciding you should die.
    Now there’s nothing left,
    just your coat and me.
    The future that we had,
    can no longer ever be.

    She’s close to tears,
    realizing now that she knows.
    He’s never coming back,
and that’s how this story goes.
    Never finishing her song,
    she runs off the stage.
    Leaving the people behind,
    them and all their rage.
    She keeps running,
until she comes to the place.
    Where she first met him,
    that started this whole case.
    Leaning over the side,
    she remembers it all.
    How she would have drowned,
    after that horrible fall.
    But he had jumped in,
    saved her from her grave.
    Then gave her his coat,
    and told her to behave.
    They were children then,
    now years later.
It’s just her and his coat,
    drowning in something greater.
She stares down at the water,
    then takes a deep breath.
    Throws over the coat,
    now accepting his death.
    It’s raining now,
and the world is still wrong.
    Because she left her stage,
    never finishing her song.
