His quill rest just over the paper of the book
He hesitates.
Should he add to this book?
Should he possibly ruin the work of others?
He sets the quill down and
Uses his hand to hold his place as
He flipped through the pages of the past
The works of great people forever printed in
This aged tome read in parts by everyone
His mind follows the pattern of verbs, nouns and adjectives.
How can he possibly compare to what once was and surpass it?
He can't but he can do his best.
He turns back to HIS page and the quill decends

Hm. I like the hidden analogy.
You allow the reader to interpret it as they want.

- I don't know who gave you a three, but they're a fool. You can read each line as a statement or connect them and it still makes sense. The word choice is a little conservative, but that doesn't really matter. You hit the nail on the head with this one. Every writer feels this way in the beginning.
