How slowly does the rose
Wilt away to naught.
How slowly does the dew dressed grass
Slip calmly into thought.
Yet too soon does the sunrise set
Too soon the daylight fades
Too soon the mighty oak tree's leaves
Fall down again to shade.
Summer turns to winter
And spring again to fall
Like ashes tossed into the wind
Lost is the dawn bird's call.
As we walk steadily
Time passes us by
So, on it will keep flowing
Beyond the day we die.
