• A Hill Covered in Daisies

    Daisy was a flower
Who lived a top a hill
    She was a pretty flower
    And she remained until

    Little Sally Mae
    Came skipping towards the flower
    She came and visited Daisy
    Everyday for half and hour

    Now Sally knew she shouldn’t
    Take Daisy from her place
    For flowers are the prettiest
Part of earth, without a vase

    Daisy loved seeing Sally
    Her yellow face shone bright
But she knew Sally would have to go
When sun set and out came night

    So half an hour later
    Little Sally skipped away
    She promised she’d return
That same time the next day

    Then Daisy was alone again
    Until she heard a noise
    And along came little Billy
    Looking curious- like most boys

    Billy looked down at Daisy
And a smile spread on his face
And he reached down to Daisy’s stem
And removed her from her place

    The next day little Daisy
Was no where to be seen
And Sally Mae searched and searched
To where Daisy should have been

Then up the hill came Billy
A shy smile on his face
And in his hand was Sally’s flower
Set in a thin glass vase

Sally ran to him and gasped
    Her eyes were opened wide
Why would Billy do such a thing?
She tried to speak- yet cried

    Billy’s smile faded quickly
And he starred down at the vase
    Then suddenly he realized
    And pain composed his face

    Sally saw Billy’s sadness
And she wiped the tears away
She took the vase into her hands
And forced a smile to say,

    “Thank you so much Billy,
But this flower should not be
    Inside a vase with water,
But on the earth and free”

    So little Sally and Billy
    Brought Daisy home with them
She was set beside a window
Where she’d await her fragile friend

    Years went by and Billy
    Purposed to Sally Mae
    And Daisy died without being
Part of earth one cloudy day

    After- Billy surprised Sally
By bringing her to the place
With a hill covered in daises
    Each one- a happy face

“To you, my love” said Billy
As the wind blew out in song
“Your world is filled with daises,
In the ground where they belong”
