-
Running and screaming,
She crashes into the walls of her cage.
It is a futile attempt.
She already knows this but again she tries.
She tries to break free of this confining cage,
To be free once more.
They poke and they prod,
They laugh and they sneer.
“Foolish little girl.” They say.
But she still tries, still fights,
To be free once more.
She hopes and she wishes,
That one kind person will come and set her free.
But she knows that will never happen.
So she still fights against the confining bars of her cage,
Wishing, wanting, hoping,
To be free once more.
