    We remember the slaves,
    Hard labor, unfair justice,
    And also facing discrimination,
    We have come so far.

    We remember the hate groups,
    Organized to keep the minorities down,
    Especially the black community,
    We have come so far.

    Look back not even 50 years ago,
    Nobody would’ve ever suspected it,
    Living through this historical event,
    We have come so far.

    We did not look for a specific race,
    We did not look for a specific gender,
    What we wanted was someone better,
    We have come so far.

    That day has come,
    The day people will forever remember,
    John McCain and Barack Obama,
    We have come so far.

    They date forever engraved in our brains,
    November 4, 2008,
    Barack Obama, our President,
    We have much more to strive for.
