• Words that pierce skin
    Burn down deep in fresh wounds;
    Words that were meant just in jest,
    Cut something from within apart.
    These wishes that need to be asked
    Just fall upon deaf ears, please listen to those pleas.
    Rhymes once told as a child
    Lose their meaning throughout the years.
    Those rocks that broke the brittle bone
    Did nothing to soothe the hurting words.
    Help the light shine towards knowledge
    And help understanding come from the words.
    Why must words be so cruel?
    Why must people hurt?
    Questions swim to and fro
    Answers are never found.
    Wishes that still need to be said,
    Fall upon those deafening ears.
    Could the language of the hands,
    Help understanding fall to knowledge?
    Never engage in matters of the heart
    Feelings of embarrassment;
    Feelings of self-loathing,
    Only end up in heartache.
