Faceless Child
By: Carmen Corbett
“Faceless child, what do you know of sunshine and marigolds?
Why ever do you speak of miracles, and of what this life holds?
When you haven’t even a face for you to be remembered by,
And when you lack a loving family or a warm house nearby.
Whatever do you know of this world?
You claim you’ve seen another world,
One so much more pure than the one today
You swear that you have large white wings
And that you are free to fly away.
But you see, pardon me, this I cannot believe
For I’ve grown marigolds once, but they expired
So I’ve given up hope on this world as a whole
As if a water-doused fire.”
And then the child spoke to me.
“Lend me your ears my dearest friend
For I do have a way,
Embrace what marigolds can bring
Look ahead for better days.
And when in this mad maniacal world
You may seem to stray,
Remember, always find your marigolds again, come what may.”
And with that, the faceless child flew away.

Description:
This is actually a poem that I had to write for one of my poetry projects in English. In this poem, marigolds stand for hope and the child stands for something... but you'll have to figure that out on your own ;D It actually has a picture that goes to it but im too lazy 2 scan it lol. Use your imagination to figure out what the picture would be...[obviousness] :D
hehe.
