• A frightful monster is loose!

It has a neck of giraffe and a beak of a goose!

It glares with red eyes and opens its beak

To reveal cabbage-and-horse-radish breath that's begginning to reek!

It has horns of a bull and ears ugly and round

And four purple claws that tear up the ground!

It has an elephant's body that is covered with scales-

And to top it all off it has two dragon tails!

With a fearless amble, it collides into happy things-

It eats rainbows like cranberries and flies away on bat wings!

It rampages and rummages through gorgeous pink flowers

And replaces them with bad weather- lightning and heavy showers!

Do you know what those red-spotted purple claws can do?

With just one stoke, it turns bunnies to snakes and gumdrops to goo!

This thing is so nasty; it will never come down-

Guns it ridicules; it juggles tanks like a clown!

Butterflies become roaches! Ladybugs become snails!

Up becomes down! Heads become tails!

Green lights turn red! When do you stop and go?

What other mischief does this thing have in tow?

Then- what's worse? I'm about to scream!

This thing lapped up all the sweets- no more ice cream!

It ran all over the world, doing whatever it wants at its time & will.

But now, it's sort of green- I think it's ill.

It treads to a mountain, and trembling, it dies.

I wake to my mom's awakening whisper at sunrise.
