• A picture of colors,
    bright and bold.
    Filled with greens, reds, blues,
    and many shades of gold.
    In it, there are faces;
    one splashed with gray,
    three felines anxious, ready to play
    and one young one filled with concern,
    asking if I'm okay.
    I accidentally left my painting outside today.

    I ran out there,
    it was cold and wet.
    But I caught that paper where we first met.
    It was funny,
    how it was found,
    my colors running on the ground.
    I watched those faces spill off the page,
    I watched the light fade from my days.
    Never did I love my work so much,
    Never did I love what I could not touch.
    And now I paint without a brush.

    One thing I've come to know very well;
    From California's ocean swells
    and Washington's evergreen bells,
    I've grown up in many places,
    But I'll never forget the rain washing away those faces.
