• My Valentine

I walk out of the school, a smile on my face.
It’s my perfect disguise- it helps ease the pain.
    I turn from my friend,
The one I not so secretly love,
Not wanting him to see me look so broken,
    And so painfully torn up.
He calls for me to wait as I throw my bag in my car.
I turn to him tears in my eyes,
Only for them to fall at the dozen Roses in my sight.
“You may have thought I’d forgotten,
But I’ll never forget you dear.
You’re the highlight of my life, so stop shedding painful tears.
It breaks my heart to see you and fight not to say,
But now I have my chance,
    Be my Valentine today?”
His rhyme is super cheesy and puts a grin on my face.
    Laughing, I whisper,
I still have tears in my eyes.
“I’ll always be your Valentine as long as you’ll be mine.”
