I look around and all I see is black,
then I hear your voice, telling me to come back.
At first I can't remember what happened,
then its like the flood gates are opened.
My whole life is flashing before my eyes,
but even then I hear your cries.
I run through the darkness wondering what to do,
I yell out as loud as I can,"baby where are you?"
Then I hear you say,"baby I'm right here",
then I feel something on my face, and I realize its a tear.
The black is starting to fade, and now I see you,
holding my hands, as if they were stuck by glue.
You ask me,"baby do you remember?"
"What you did on this cold day of December?"
And I say,"yes I most certainly do"
"Didn't I say I'd take a bullet for you?"

- you should try to avoid cliches like "my whole life is flashing before my eyes" and "cold day of December." My writing profs crucify me over similar things. I don't know see what the big deal is, but they have the PhDs
