-
Once upon a tired day, while the sky was gray,
The drops pounding and I think of how we met
While I sighed, almost in disdain, my companion called my name.
As he believes I am tame, tame like our pet.
“Yes dear” I replied, “Tame like our pet -
Only me and not a bet.”
I recall the day of a short April.
And each little drop sloshed onto the ground.
Expectedly I hoped a kiss - think I’d never have to miss
I withheld a small hiss but it never makes a sound.
The love we had was a harsh sound.
That relationship had to be found.
My chest swelled in lustful bliss, thankful he exist
Thrilled my body and sent shivers down me
My love liked to lie, those of which bring tears to eyes.
But he was the one to own my key.
No one else but he, was the one to own my key.
He heard my soft plea.
Suddenly my passion grew, in a un-lady like fashion
I flung myself across his lap
“My dear,” he said “You are in great cheer.”
He pressed against me, my arms wrapped his neck,
Around his neck I was wrapped.
He gave my head a soft tap.
The air got warm, and like it was to storm
He admitted “I am at a loss.”
My beloved, delicate as a dove.
And the words I whispered as if on the Cross.
The words I whimpered as if on the Cross.
Unknowing of the cost.
His clothes were in the way, hair astray
Unsure if this what is right
His lips has a gleam, which are soft as cream.
“Let us lower the lights -
We must lower the lights!”
He was my true knight.
We laid down on a seat, embraced like to greet.
Tension made him feel torn.
“We are not married, do not let yourself get carried.”
But this is not something to mourn.
Love is not something to mourn.
I did not want his scorn.
We were young and embraced with tongue.
I could have only began to hope.
He was vital to me, I didn’t care about his title.
“I wish we could elope -
I wish we could just elope.”
I prayed to the Pope.
He was a Duke, but my caring was not a fluke.
The wedding was months later.
We were waiting and dating.
Our love had careful treading
Together, our love had careful treading.
How we waited for our bedding.
Years have passed but love has last.
My paramour has grown older
A painting of us, I tittered, and he was bitter.
He grew tired and colder.
I grew tired and bolder.
Our love, it smolders.

- Title: My Paramour: The Raven Parody
- Artist: PaintTheSkyRed
- Description: I had to write a parody of the poem "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe. It was ten stanzas, had to have an ABCBBB rhyme scheme and it had to have interior rhyming within the first line B and line C. Here is my version. I hope you enjoy it.
