• What are tears?
    What brings them?
    Year after year,
    Our tears are condemned
We try to stop their flow,
We don't let people see them
We don't want them to show.

    They release our sadness
    our anger, hatred, and fear,
    To our tears are abrasiveness,
We wear them down until they're sheer

    We stop them on instinct,
    To protect our self-image,
    Around others they're extinct,
    To prevent them we scrimmage

    It's a battle we fight,
    So others won't see,
    That we aren't really alright,
That we could fall to our knees

    These simple drops of water,
    That fall from our eyes,
    Cried for a lost daughter,
    Or when anybody dies

    So powerful these are,
They tear us apart on the inside,
    They leave an invisible scar

So help me release the tears,
    That are trapped inside me,
    Help me and my peers,
    To set them free.
