The cool air stings
As I inhale.
The grass I cannot see.
The cause:
A hazy mist that lays still.
As well as frost that covers the pond.
The sun hides behind a cloud
Only to peek through the occasional hole
Two clouds create.
The warm rays illuminate the hidden pond,
Though only for a few seconds
Can you see the golden ripples.
Shy is her face
Of golden brilliance.
She who is steadfast and unfailing to appear.
Such a marvelous wonder,
To shine so bright
In this cold season.
Wondering through the park,
I hear the ducks quack
As they wait for noon.
That is when the pond will thaw,
And they can swim to their heart's content.
The breeze this time of year
Often blows,
Though not too hard,
But occasionally a gust will rip through the trees-
Knocking leaves of their branches
Causing the trees to moan in protest.
For it woke them from their slumber.
I close my eyes.
It will be a beautiful Autumn day.
