IN THE PARK REMEMBERING
by UC Poika
the sailboats shout the colors mankind makes
above the dark blue waves in years gone by
remembered yellows, reds and orange with white
there under azure skies with only wind
and clouds that light upon horizons’ haze
with all the grace of cormorants, ducks and geese
all so easy on my mind the sunshine’s warmth
introduces herself massaging my neck and back
as I sit beside an oak that lost his shades
to army worms that devoured all his leaves
that must have tasted better than you’d think
for not a single one of them is left
to fall upon no picnic table’s top
inscribed with only symbols gangs can know.
